@rodneyabrooks Totally agree, I like to say there has to be both sides of the coin. Social/“cute” by itself is not enough value, there has to be a utility of some sort. And on the flip side a utilitarian robot that gets the social implications of its work environment wrong will also fail.

SoftBank stopped manufacturing Pepper last year. Cute doesn't cut it except for very cheap robots. Robots have to provide value to customers that is more than the price of the robot. And expecting customers to find applications is a losing strategy. wsj.com/articles/japan…
