@ryan_sikola The difference is that I don’t really care enough about any of those others to follow dedicated accounts for them besides I suppose the English/Celtic bunch. That does come up sometimes but no one is as obsessed as these Greek accounts

@arsensamurai @TodayAssyria There are many Syrians in Europe, and they are well aware of why they were forced to flee to Europe. They all still speak Turkish and maintain contact with their churches and priests in Turkey. Many of them also try to return to their homelands once they retire.

@arsensamurai @TodayAssyria Rarely is a Syriac person behind the propaganda claiming that a massacre was carried out against the Syriac people. This false propaganda is generally spread by either Armenian or Kurdish refugees. 👇

A Syriac propaganda account 🚨 💵🎤 ➡️@TodayAssyria ⬅️ based in the Netherlands is making baseless genocide allegations against the Turkish nation. However, Mr Propaganda is ignoring the declarations of loyalty and devotion to the Ottoman Empire and Atatürk made by Assyrian Patriarch Ilyas, as well as the evidence that no Assyrian genocide took place. Looking back, Turkey was unable to prevent the ethnic cleansing carried out by Greeks on the island of Crete. This was because the means available at the time were limited. However, Turkey intervened in Cyprus to stop the Greeks from carrying out the same ethnic cleansing there.
Yusuf Erim@YusufErim34

Türkiye, a guarantor power for the island of Cyprus, lawfully intervened to prevent the Greek Cypriot community of the island from ethnically cleansing the Turkish Cypriot community of the island during a Greece-backed coup attempt. Many insincere narrative spinning Greek Cypriots and Greeks always fail to mention their actions that resulted in Türkiye having to launch the Cyprus Peace Operation. If the operation wasn’t launched, there probably wouldn’t be any Turkish Cypriots left on the island and if by chance a couple survived they would be called Cypriot Muslims most likely. Unfortunately the far-right mindset and Enosis ideology that led to the 1963 Bloody Christmas Massacre and the ethnic cleansing events of 1974 still remain today. Greek Cypriots have had multiple chances to unify the island throughout the half century of its division. But their maximalist demands, rejection of the UN’s Annan plan and failure to even view Turkish Cypriots as equal owners of the island have stymied all past diplomatic efforts. Unfortunately their EU membership has compounded the problem. While they are basically subsidized - Turkish Cypriots live under embargo and the EU expects healthy negotiations while there is such great inequality. The presence of Turkish troops on the island are the only security guarantee Turkish Cypriots have.

@greece_heritage Wikipedia, huh? :) There are thousands of articles and reports from the UK, Italy, Germany, the U.S., and Arab sources covering the massacre. Those who managed to escape the massacre saved their lives. Those who couldn’t escape were killed. Just1example: academia.edu/10428584/A_Ver…

@kkdimitris This is complete nonsense. What you’re writing isn’t just distorting the truth anymore—it’s playing “Hasaposerviko” with lies. You must have had no shame in writing this. “Turkified Greeks massacred the Greeks” is a truly ridiculous fabrication.

@andreasuzumo There were massacres of greek civilians by the turkified greeks. The new muslim converts were extremely lethal to their former brotherin. They were no greek muslims that remained to Crete as this was part of the intermational agreement that the turkish state imposed around 1922.

@tkalogeris @zamacingo Hey, we’re not buying your classic “change the subject” game anymore. Please don’t try to deflect theconversation by bringing up the Armenians and your massacres on the islands. We’re already discussing the Armenian issue withArmenians, Kurds, and Turks. It’s none of your business

@kkdimitris So are you saying there was never a massacre of Turkish civilians in Crete? They even converted the handful of Greek Muslims who remained in Crete so the Greeks wouldn’t kill them. All of Europe learned just how brutal you were back then.

@andreasuzumo You are taliking rubbish. The muslims from Crete were part of the population exchange that Ataturk demanded and after moving out of Crete they relovated mainly in Antalya where they live to this day. Originally they were not turks at all. They were Greeks from Crete who converted

Izrael to wszystko robi, a świat patrzy - patrzy i milczy. Pamiętajcie, prawda to nie antysemityzm. A jeśli prawda to dziś antysemityzm, to trudno - niech będę antysemitą. Wolę być antysemitą, ale spać spokojnie w poczuciu, że nie byłem głuchy na to, co się dzieje i na to, kto jest tu ofiarą, a kto katem...

@Euliberty The idea of population exchange is terrible to begin with. If it weren’t for the massacres committed against the civilian population, the idea of population exchange wouldn’t have arisen in the first place.Neither the Greeks nor the Turks were the ones who first proposed this idea

@andreasuzumo The decline stoped when the Greek administration began in 1913. So there is nothing to compare between the 2 situations if Turkey wanted the Turks to inhabit Crete then they ought to not agree with the exchange.

@Euliberty The history lessons taught to the Greeks are very incomplete. The Ottoman Empire, which you call oppressive, issued two Tanzimat decrees. However, separatist ideas had already been sown by Westerners in the Balkans and on Greek soil. You did not embrace the reforms.

@andreasuzumo If the Ottomans listened to the Greek majority demands much of this could have been avoided. The rebellions didnt start in a single day. Instead they choose to continue their opressive policies. There were Turks in Crete till the exchange of 1923 infact..

@anzuralhaqiqa I’m not talking about a war, but about the massacre of civilians—men, women and the elderly alike. TheOttomans were fighting on their own fronts anyway. Since there were no soldiers left on the island, theGreeks massacred tens of thousands of civilians who didn’t even have knives

@BlueGreyYannis Egyptian Civilization > Romans > Emirate of Crete > Romans > Venetians > Ottomans. Venice ruled the island for 450 years until the Ottomans took it over. In other words, there is no history of a Greek state. What followed was Greece, established through massacres.

This becomes more ridiculous once you know that Cretan Turks left in the population exchange at the same time that Turkey was implementing death marches for Pontic Greeks and those Turks who remained in the Dodecanese and Thrace are still there in contrast to those Greeks who remained in Turkey.
Józef Bem ⚜️@andreasuzumo

There are no indigenous Turks in Crete today; in fact, the indigenous Arabs of Crete were also exterminated. They attempted the same model of ethnic cleansing in Cyprus. You can draw parallels between what happened in Cyprus up until 1974 and what occurred in Crete.
