So clearly Project Hail Mary, which is being roundly applauded for old school wholesome entertainment, is going to be a massive hit. Just like Maverick. And Hollywood will learn nothing from it.

To the young mom, franticly journaling, picture taking, milestone recording, videoing every precious moment because you don't want to lose a single one. And to the middle aged mom, riddled with guilt because you can hardly remember your kids' birthdays let alone all those sweet little memories you promised yourself you would never forget. It all comes back. Your body will slow down, decay, fall apart. All those extra pounds that menopause brought on will be the exact cushioning and excess you need for the falls and illnesses and wasting away that will inevitably come. You will be tired in the day and sleepless at night. And in those sleepless hours the memories will come back. The first words, the favorite toys, the smell of shampooed baby hair, the funny way they said spaghetti, the outfit they wore on their first day of school, their best friend's name, all of it. The memories were never lost. God just keeps them all safe for us to use when we'll need and treasure them most. So if your teenager is hounding you with questions about what they were like as a baby just tell them "I don't know right now. Ask me when I'm old." We took our 13 year old to Vegas last week for back to back 311 concerts. We had a great time and it was PACKED! Don’t need to go for more than 2-3 nights though. We stayed at the Venetian for super cheap too and had a really nice room. Parking was $20/day and tons of great food options.

ok if Vegas basically upgraded itself to being a classy, high-end vacation destination, where should I go for my trashy vacations now?

@MrsMassacre Took my son in the last week of the summer season, that final week of September/first of October and it was magical. No crowds anywhere. We had the place to ourselves. Was able to visit Teton and a large portion of Yellowstone up to the canyons in just 3 days.

Is this what you thought Yellowstone Park was like? Unmoving traffic jams lasting 1-3 hours; rivaling that of suburban areas in big cities. Nowhere to park. Insane prices. Tourists harassing animals, littering, picking flowers, influencers everywhere, sticking their hands in basins and ruining them, no good camping spots left because people use AI programs to snatch up the good ones within milliseconds of the site opening up, and most of your day spent behind Asian tourist busses. The overwhelming amount of tourists have made the park experience unbearable. You used to be able to go there and explore nature peacefully. Now it's worse than Disneyland.

Stop wasting billions of dollars, like spending $100k+ a person on “homelessness” when really it’s going to NGO slush funds, lock up criminals and stop calling people babies for not liking public disorder, clean up the streets, get men out of women’s sports. Just basic stuff. Get that done and things would dramatically change.

Local papers in major cities need to get in the game on this stuff. Obsession with national politics has had people going blind to the malfeasance in their own states and cities. We need to re-orient to focusing on local matters and care less about D.C. Pulitzers should be going to people exposing those who are robbing taxpayers blind. Make this kind of muckraking prestigious.

I am gutted to hear they found the body of the missing boy from Illinois, currently a student at University of Alabama. As a human, one can empathize with his family and having to live out any parent's worst nightmare. But for those of us with college age kids who are currently studying abroad, it hits even closer to home. My daughter is studying in Paris, but has already visited Spain twice, and was recently at the same exact nightclub where he was last seen. We try to let our kids go out and live their life and explore the world, with a small bit of fear always at the back of our minds. We just pray they'll be safe and smart, but understand that living life always involves risks, even here at home. But man does stuff like this just want to make you lock them up and keep them safe in their home bubble. Praying deeply for the Grayce family.

Eric Swalwell was the only candidate who couldn't or wouldn't name a single thing that Gavin Newsom has gotten wrong as Governor. Empty Eric Swalwell is one of the most ret*rded people to ever be in American politics. If CA elects this absolute fool as Governor, shame on them. While running for Governor in 2018, Newsom campaigned on fixing two main issues, homelessness and affordability. Both problems have gotten substantially worse during his tenure as Governor. Not to mention the dozens of disaster projects that have gone no where. Or the fires he wasn't prepared for. Or the rampant fraud.
