@SaffronOlive I think MPL was a fine and probably correct rebrand because thats the standard naming convention in E-sports (not that anything else about that was a good idea but it at least made sense). The rest were absolute hot garbage though.

It will never not be funny to me that Wizards dropped the Pro Tour, went through like four different names over the course of a few years (MPL, Mythic Championships, Players Tour, etc) only to end up with the Pro Tour again in the end.

Magic is a weird TCG in that most of the people who play do so casually, but it's not considered a collectors TCG like Pokemon often is. But enough people play that making competitve events more viewer-friendly and financially attractive would increase the prestige of the game.

Pro Tour prizing is increasingly lagging behind the cost to attend. Ken is spending $2400 for flight and hotel. He's have to finish in the Top 28 to cover that (based on the prize structure for Las Vegas). #mtg

@terribadmtg @fireshoes I would not complain about the cost of flying to the one even mildly exotic PT location left, I would complain about the other 3 I would be happy to pay extra to never set foot in Atlanta again. Because that's how this get's "fixed", replaced by another US PT near a hub.

I’m just curious. I’m not looking for a debate. How much money does one need to fire $100k at WSOP? $5m? $20m? I’m not glorifying anything. It’s nature of the beast and everyone does it. Is it right? NO ONE KNOWS! There’s no way to actually figure out one’s ROI during the series, but it is def higher than any other poker festival. So quite being a nit and believe in yourself.
