I was there and saw this happen. I will always remember that moment. It says a lot about how computers are wrong.

The Ontario government says it has no choice but to pass a bill preventing a strike, because kids need to be in school so they can grow up, get jobs, and have their Charter rights taken away.

Utterly disgusted by my provincial government. Use of the NotWithStandingClause to trample rights is the wrong way to go. Solve this shit at the negotiating table

@seeteegee This is similar to what @doctorow does. He's got his own "blog like" platform - and tooling that posts the same content across social media sites. I'd be all over something sensible to manage cross posting/replying.

Maybe instead of switching to Mastodon from Twitter I could instead make my own sshla tool that would allow me to post “statuses” to my own home infrastructure and sync them with social media automatically as tweets/toots/whatever.

Also - @holly_cummins thanks for sharing your point of view on "tech culture & fashion" My daughter (grade 12) commented that the STEM club has now lost all the girls who started in it, which adds a barrier to her attending. The cycle continues..

Boo. I believe the root problem is CGNAT and LTE. You don't get a visible IP on an LTE connection, unless you pay extra for a static one. Reverse tunnel over ssh here I come. Still was neat to poke around the router.

#uname -a Linux homerouter.cpe 3.18.44 #1 PREEMPT Mon Jun 17 12:27:03 CST 2019 armv7l GNU/Linux Ok - interesting. Maybe I can find the firmware? Possibly more useful to me - iptables -t nat -L dumps all the forwarding rules, they seem to look ok.. hmm

KuWifi LC111 hacking I'm trying to use this Chinese-English web UI to configure this LTE router to forward ports (to an OpenWRT router that is the only client of the router) It's not working. I finally decide to nmap the KuWifi device.

@FaustAround There were things to like about it. Slim package (and light). Solid performance. Good screen. Charge from either side. Mine could drive 3 external monitors (one was 4k)

@andrew_low Between that clowny Touch Bar and the janky keyboard, I thought the prev gen mbpro was the worst ever.

Greatly enjoying the new macbook pro (M1) - battery life, keyboard (thank you for my Esc key back!) With a touchbar I had a button to get the launchpad up. Older mac's had a dedicated button, and I missed it. Gestures to the rescue: thumb + 3 finger pinch => launchpad! #osx

Self had some killer just in time compilation, I'd argue they were ahead of hardware capabilities at the time. I believe some of that core team went on to build Java VMs - self as a language was just "too niche" to displace Smalltalk (at the time) or Java (soon after). (2/2)

I remember the self team way back in the day. dubroy.com/blog/self/ They were doing some radical things relative to what the state of the art was for Smalltalk VMs at the time. It's interesting in hindsight to see how things turned out. (1/2)

Something cool about SuperTXT. With a supportive browser/shell you can run serverless, like git. If a server is required for network communication, then one ssh server will work with multiple sshla tools, including git, rsync, scp, etc. superxt.net

Wow.. a lot of 'free' music via bandcamp. artoffactrecords.bandcamp.com/music Maybe this will turn someone on to a band or an artist they hadn't heard before. Some classic stuff there - Cyberaktif !!
