@revchadbrooks Your last two data points are for 5 giving units. If this is a smaller church, do you change that for a medium or larger sized church? Maybe 10 giving units for a medium sized church and 25 units for a larger church?

Doing a workup for a congregation in pretty significant financial distress. Here are the figures I wanted to build out to understand their current reality and build a path forward. They are significantly in the red. When small churches hit tough financial places, I find they are finally willing to talk about evangelism, missional strategy, and congregational shifts. These talks should have happened years ago, but this is when they are normally open to making big decisions. Here are the data points Total General Fund Giving Total Giving Units # of General Fund Gifts Median gift Avg gift to General Fund YTD Per capita giving Top 5 giving to General Fund total Percentage of Top 5 of Total General Fund Giving This is a bunch of data, but we can now do things with it. Is it about more money? Nope. It's about operating in the black (we are also doing some significant budget trimming, but later on). Using the YTD from 2023 of the same time span, we come up with the difference. Then we use the average gift per unit to calculate the number of new units needed. I then check the end result against the per capita giving. This figure is extremely high for this church, so adding the previous number of new units + current avg attendance would put them with 200% of their yearly need. This congregation is small, but really generous. Once we reach this space, they are ready to talk about so many other things. It is still tough, but putting exact numbers allows them to use missional saturation to start setting goals and working on both reaching and integrating new people.
