@HeleneBismarck As ever, when people speak, they always tell you more about themselves than about that of which they are speaking.

I stand with my brother in Christ, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, in his courageous call for a kingdom of peace. As I prepare to visit Rome later this month to meet and pray with Pope Leo, I am mindful of his call to keep our eyes open to the suffering of the world, and our gaze fixed on our crucified and risen Lord Jesus Christ – the image of the invisible God, in whose image and likeness every human being is made. In him, we recognise that we are children of the one Father and members of a single human family. Prayer is not an escape from the world, nor a turning away from injustice; rather, it is a turning towards God in the midst of it, confronting evil, seeking God’s will, and becoming instruments of transformation and peace. I am not surprised @POTUS is threatening to rip up the trade deal with the UK @Keir_Starmer practices policies which are anti-American and has stabbed our ally in the back. There is a choice: Back the Anglo sphere or the EU. Starmer chooses the EU I choose the Anglo-sphere

EU sometimes succeeds, sometimes falls short. But no problem in Europe or beyond would be easier to solve without the EU. And no UK problem is easier to solve outside. Being back inside would not produce miracles. But it would help - a lot. And getting closer will help a little.

I am a practicing Catholic. Have been all my life, waaaayyyy over half a century. But I’ve had it with these damn popes getting political!! I couldn’t stand Pope Francis. 😤 We catholics are taught to believe that the pope is divinely chosen. That he is infallible. But I’m sorry, this one and the last one are hardly infallible. 😒 I had hopes for Leo but I had also heard that he was a liberal early on. Already, I can see he’s no better than Francis. Please, stop making Catholics feel like we have to choose. Because I’ll choose Jesus always, but you are NOT Jesus!! I will NOT change my stance on my president! I will support him, however, the one thing I CAN control? How much money I put in the kitty every week. 💰 And right now, I’m not putting ANY money in that’s intended for Rome. Until the holy father stays out of our politics, he gets not one. red. cent. from me! His job is to lead people to Christ like a shepherd, not to “pontificate” on @POTUS @DonaldTrump! @Pontifex

@DanielJHannan Lord Hannan, you proposed in 2014 that UK be like Switzerland. Which adopts EU rules and contributes to EU cohesion funding in return for single market access...so why are you now saying that is something 'unprecedented for sovereign nations'? cps.org.uk/research/brita…

@RichardBentall @paulafr68963440 Yes. On what planet is it possible to withdraw from a treaty designed to give advantages to all its signatories by introducing common standards and increasing free flows of people, goods, capital and services, without disadvantaging yourself? 1/

We got a bad deal out of Brexit because from day one, Starmer and his bitter Remainers plotted and betrayed it. They still are….

Distance us further from the EU - suicide Leave things as they are - meh Get closer to the EU but without a say - feels rather self defeating Rejoin the EU and become a full participant in every decision - only sensible way forward

Food prices since Brexit. Prices have been lower in Britain than in the EU. But Starmer and Reeves want "alignment" with EU food. Their EU Surrender Deal means your food bill will rise.

@chrisdkelly He would have changed his position if the data had told him to. He didn’t get to be Goldman’s chief economist by ignoring data.

@rec777777 @RichardBentall @CeeMacBee You’re choosing the highest calculation from a reputable organisation. What’s your alternative calculation. BTW, compare the UK now with the UK without Brexit. Comparing the UK with another country is fantasy football economics.

@andrewhj @RichardBentall @CeeMacBee They're claiming we'd be 8% better off, which is ridiculous now we have 6 years worth of data, showing we've done better then any EU member in the G7 since we left, as it is It's weird Remoaner fantasy stuff

@rec777777 @RichardBentall @CeeMacBee So does thinking. He’s not making a crude comparison of different economies on cherry-picked data. He’s comparing what the UK is with what it would have been without Brexit. The country isn’t feeling the rosy picture you want to believe.

@CeeMacBee And given that this article is highly and no doubt deliberately misleading, it's time to remind the world that Catherine is a fake economist.x.com/RichardBentall…

1/4 🧵about fake economists. A strange thing just happened when I responded to the IEA's @cjsnowdon's claim that the NHS was awash with money. His wiki bio says that he did an undergrad degree in Lancs so I asked him to justify his claim to be an economist. Then he blocked me.

@pritipatel Dear Ms Patel..a) as even Mail says, *maximum* change would be need for words 'orange' or 'lemon' in front of 'marmalade' which (see pics) many makers already do b) it will be easier/cheaper to import Seville oranges if there is deal with EU..c) there are more important things..

Labour is now attacking the great British marmalade! No idea Keir is so desperate to fit in with his EU pals and unpick Brexit, he's now looking to rename British marmalade to align with the EU. When Labour negotiates, Britain loses big time….  mol.im/a/15703815

@LizWebsterSBF @GavinBarwell I seem to remember Goodhart wondering around in 2015 claiming loudly that EU-27 migrants had overtaken RoW migrants and what a huge problem it was. Can’t think boosting Leave talking points is indicative of voting Remain.

I guess Seb has to pretend he thinks this if he wants to be selected as a Conservative MP, but it's absurd. The world is *much* less conducive to a free trading, go it alone UK than it was in 2016 - which is why public opinion has shifted decisively in the opposite direction
Sebastian Payne@SebastianEPayne

Couldn't agree more with @CitySamuel today - I too was a reluctant Remainer, but everything that has happened since confirms we made the right decision to Leave. Exiting the EU is a prerequisite for any national revival thetimes.com/comment/column…
