Third a-ha - rather than pretending to neutrality, which is impossible, deeply examine your biases and personal tastes and how they influence your facilitation. What are you knowingly or unknowingly imparting about what is 'good' and 'bad'?

Thinking a lot about facilitation and how so many of us writers get thrown into it w/o any real training and have to work things out through trial and error. Writers who also teach: what are things you'd wish you'd known earlier about best practice?

@Vanessa_Kisuule Trying to change language so that it isn't absolutes "good /bad" but highlights that there is opinion involved "I liked this / this made me feel / think of" etc. Also showing a variety of other poets with different styles when there's YouTube.

@Vanessa_Kisuule Absolutely. Been teaching a Yr 9 group in Stockport today. I got the group to prompt me "I remember feeling (embarrassed, scared, excited) when.." then speaking back my reply to their prompt before me giving them similar prompts.

One more for the road that @andy_c_g both agree on. If you have the bandwidth, do the writing exercises WITH your group. It's great for them to see you engaged in the task and sharing raw drafts alongside them.
