@bl_ag_inc Was the field tiled before development? Maybe drain tile would have helped?

Observations on my drive from Easton, MN to Adel, IA yesterday. Think total number of fields I saw with noticeable cover crop growth was around 7. Some on corn stalks, some on bean stubble.

@5150Farms I can’t borrow a million to put I the stock market today with nothing as collateral. I can leverage the hell out of land and make payments. Does it make it right? No, just food for thought

@JamesPieper10 @RickBieber81 Have you thought about planting into the oats without working the ground, there would be cost share also, for me there is no yield difference

@SWMNpest We have them thick in a cover crop field and grass hay field. Road ditches and small patches in the lawn are GONE. Looks very spotty so far. Easton MN

A consultant in SC MN sent photos of severe fall armywom infestation in an oat cover crop. The larvae were nearly full grown. It might be worth checking any emerged fall cereals, lush grass hay ground an possibly very late-planted sweet corn.

For any groups, organizations, and other entities looking to work with farmers about how they can minimize their potential negative impacts towards others, feel free to read this thread and see what gets the most likes if you’d like to get a feel for possible attitudes in ag.

Harvesting corn beside a suburban neighbor. He is upset about the corn cobs on his driveway. Claiming "they will ruin my lawnmower and are difficult to drive over". Wants me to come clean them up. Help me formulate a response.

@silvopasturist I agree and it’s unfortunate. I also understand since it would require daily chores.

@andy_linder Could be. But I’d never say that… most row crop guys hate livestock and hate anyone that mentions livestock. Some of them have dairy or pig barns but what they really hate is livestock outside.

There’s a million little nooks and crannies where we should be planting perennial and tree crops. Why do farmers waste the time putting corn in these places? It’s driven by obsession there’s zero profit motive here.

@SoilLorax @mncorn @MNSoyGrowers I have cover crop customers doing notill in muck soils and strip till. My neighbor has done corn on corn notill in peat for 6+ years now. Has trouble with rootworm so some rotation is happening.

@PetersenFarms @RussOlson16 @BenRiensche Cletus has inconsistent and slow results. I’d love to move away from gly, today it’s the best option. At least let’s teach to not over use it. I know that happens a lot. 24 oz? Let’s use 32oz says the agronomist . It’s cheap 🙄

@MattHintz3 For sure. I’ve had many examples where I’ve had to coach my family to understand why the person thinks what they do. Doesn’t mean we agree with it. Just that we understand
