I fully support Carrick getting the gig. It is easy to voice that view, yet the concern remains that it could mirror the OGS experience. That said, the same risk exists with any other candidate. Enrique, Ancelotti and Tuchel have ruled themselves out, and the alternatives in the next tier carry considerably greater uncertainty than Carrick. For me, the sensible path is clear: recruit astutely this summer, ensure the players respond well to Carrick and his backroom staff (and strengthen that department) then give him the opportunity. Should it not succeed, we have navigated that territory before. What stands out now is the tangible connection between fans and the team, which is largely attributable to Carrick and his colleagues. That bond, so evident at matches, should not be underestimated; it is a genuine factor in sustained success, and one Michael demonstrably delivers. Intelligent recruitment can build directly on this foundation. From there, the possibilities are significant.

Palace getting a vital first leg lead in the Conference Semi Final. If they get through to the final they will play that game three days after they play us. They’re safe in The Premier League so would surely rest players for the final. Can only be good for us…🤞.

IMO Iraola comes with more risk than Carrick which is why, if the top 3 managers are not available (and it appears they aren’t), you have to stick with Carrick.
