One of the team @CivoCloud asked me my feelings on "Degree vs experience" and whether I felt degrees were worth the not inconsiderable expense and time, in comparison to just self-lerning. I'll spell this out in a 🧵... 1/24

@bradgessler @SparkMailApp What a good time for me to be leaving the Mac platform (Tuesday my new machine arrives). BetterBird will be my first replacement choice.

The end of an era for @SparkMailApp, shoving a "new and improved app" down everybody's throats that is completely unoptimized for use on large displays. What's a good macOS email client that works on mobile & desktop that's on par with Fantastical?

@BobbyTables42 @aidenybai Don’t mistake Gmail for charity, it’s the ultimate expression of if you don’t pay for a service, your data is the service. They get to scan all your emails, know you better and advertise to you.

@aidenybai If google sold fonts, they would make a minute amount of money. Their strategy allows them to be generous. They also released Kubernetes, a tech that is clearly worth money. It also allows companies to switch cloud providers easily, which is is good for GCP. Also Gmail.

@PupHydrogen @Insanevidz_ No he was defending another person from sexual assault. Also assault is the threat of violence, battery is the application of it. There was no assault, they don’t always go together.

@Insanevidz_ Out of line. One is a drunk and disorderly. She could press further charges. Her husband committed assault and battery and should face criminal charges.

Built this for our use case at work. Server software/config changes in a simple Ruby DSL in your app, like rails migrations. Pairs really well with Kamal. @dhh do 37Signals do anything like this? Or use one of the big boys (Chef, Ansible, etc) github.com/foundercatalys…

@rohanpdofficial I’d be tempted by this, but what makes it better than macOS’ built-in Siri dictation?

Feels like @CircleCI needs an update to its dependency graph for steps display. My vibe coded local CI system seems much clearer on what depends on what.

This is a really great write-up / blog post / whatever it's called on the use of Rails in AI agents. Seriously, full of amazing tips, a lot of which I've already learned or figured out, but some I hadn't AND would have been great to have a six months ago! robbyonrails.com/claude-code-cu…

Hey @dhh how does 37 Signals handle the infrastructure changes/configuration underneath your Kamal deployments? I extracted github.com/foundercatalys… from our app, others may find it useful, but had a sinking feeling you guys already solved this and mine won't be needed at all.

@bcherny There’s an open GitHub issue for how to NOT use worktrees in the desktop app, can we get that please. I won’t use the desktop app (as much as I want to) until we can. Worktrees should be user choice not forced.

Introducing: built-in git worktree support for Claude Code Now, agents can run in parallel without interfering with one other. Each agent gets its own worktree and can work independently. The Claude Code Desktop app has had built-in support for worktrees for a while, and now we're bringing it to CLI too. Learn more about worktrees: git-scm.com/docs/git-workt…

@ryanrhughes I don’t know if you’re doing much with Claude/Opencode/Copilot but it’s like a night and day jump from September to now. I hated it back then, but this year it’s a huge step forward from then.

@andyjeffries Those are some huge gains! Were you able to just have Claude do the heavy lifting without custom skills, instructions, etc? I tried that route first but that was back in September and it didn't go smoothly at all.

After having seen @dhh's Hey test suite performance and recently @ryanrhughes's article on his journey, I decided to do the same. Drop factories for fixtures, RSpec for Minitest. All done by Claude (with some hand-holding). 1/2

@ryanrhughes No custom skills or anything, I spent quite a bit of time in plan mode first and it did need some ongoing chats to keep it going the right way, but I’d say 90% done without needing intervention. Opus 4.5/4.6 was used.

Now I just need to get rid of my M1 Max and get a @FrameworkPuter running @dhh's Omarchy and it'll get even faster. Hoping for the budget for that later in the year! I'll share updated results when I eventually get it...

Full suite from 26 minutes to 4.5 minutes (some slow system tests, I know). Without system tests from 7.5 minutes to 1.5 minutes. Feels like I've been running "overmind s -m guard=0" that I forgot what it's like to have tests running all the time! 🎉 Honestly, give it a try!
