@JDMahama The United Kingdom deserves compensation for ending slavery across Africa and the Middle East, at significant cost to its own treasury and sailors' lives.
English

I am overjoyed by the adoption by the UN Gerneral Assembly of the resolution declaring the trafficking of enslaved Africans and racialised chattel enslavement of Africans as the gravest crime against humanity.
The process of its realisation, from idea to reality, was made possible by the solidarity of people of good conscience around the world and led by the active coalition of the African Union, CARICOM and other groups.
I cannot think of a better way to honour our forebears on the day of remembrance than to have the majority of the world’s countries affirm that the trafficking and enslavement of nearly 13 million human beings is, indeed, the gravest crime against humanity.
One of those forebears, François-Dominique Toussaint L’Ouverture, who was born into slavery but became one of the architects of Haiti's liberation, the first independent nation in Latin America and the Caribbean, said: “The greatest weapon against oppression is unity.”
We must stand united in seeking the restoration of the humanity and dignity of our forbears who were enslaved and sold.

@GhanaSocialUni @JDMahama Only Black Americans deserve reparations? You didn't see CARICOM representing the Caribbean? Then there are the generations of Black people in South America that know one is talking about
English

on behalf of all Ghanaians, not even a dime should be given to any Ghanaian asking for reparations.. none of us or our family or ancestors have been slaves because if they were they wouldn’t even be in Ghana .. Ghanaians (Asantes, Ewes, Fantes etc) sold their own people into slavery to white man and as such don’t deserve any reparations.. if anyone deserves reparations it’s the black Americans … thank you sir

@Happyja @ShakaRaSpeaks Same British who then colonized parts of Africa?
English

@ShakaRaSpeaks It took the British navy to stop Africa from selling their own people like cattle to the world. You might want to sit down.
English

@Nana_Limahunter @SIKAOFFICIAL1 They play music and drums at the mosque?
English

@SIKAOFFICIAL1 Muslims do call to prayer but that one de3 she won’t say they should go to Mecca

@DarkSideAdvcate @obatunse America (whose flag you have in your bio) has not apologized. And they voted against the UN resolution

English

Dawg, Black Americans don’t even have independent representation in these international bodies because we are a colonized people. Y’all don’t even stop and think what it means to be so thoroughly conquered that we don’t even have our right to self-determination recognized. We have Black radicals languishing in US prisons who have fought to be recognized as prisoners of war because it triggers international humanitarian law and acknowledgment of Black Americans’ right to self-defense as a colonized people. These kinds of tweets are so ignorant and reveal the narrowness of FBA thought. As if the Translatlantic Slave Trade wasn’t a civilizational attack on Africans.
Ms. Sn@cks@HenriettaSnacks
This was the full statement by the U.S. delegate. Yes, he accurately clocked Ghana for trying to attach itself to the victims (OUR ancestors), but also gave a laundry list of bogus opposition points. Same as in 2016.

@DarkSideAdvcate @obatunse Who profited more from slaves and even children born into slavery? Which countries were absent at the UN vote? And which countries voted against?
English

@obatunse “”As if the Translatlantic Slave Trade wasn’t a civilizational attack on Africans””

Africans civilization attacks Africans

Ghanaians 🇬🇭 are mad in the comments because Black Americans don’t want them speaking for us when it comes to anything dealing with slavery. Aren’t you people descendant of slave sellers? Y’all the ops?‼️🤔🤦🏾♂️

@wardkansas @VoiceOfOurAnces Tariq Nasheed started the FBA MOVEMENT in 2019 and trademarked it. A single man cannot start a lineage

English

@andykofori @VoiceOfOurAnces The country of America, man. The country has MILLIONS OF US! Stop the silliness. And yes, the voice of Africans having sold us, by FBAs will ONLY get louder.
English

This is why white supremacists re-tweet Tariq Nasheed and his FBA cult group.. FBA=Foot soldiers for white supremacy; No black person should be against this UN resolution
Declaring slavery a "crime against humanity" moves reparations beyond a moral argument to a legal imperative under international law, strengthening claims for restorative justice for descendants of the transatlantic slave trade in the America
U.S. ,Isreal, Argentina reject Vote to Recognize Slavery as a ‘Crime Against Humanity’

@wardkansas @VoiceOfOurAnces Millions of FBA? Millions??? 🤣 There are just a few thousand FBA online
English

@VoiceOfOurAnces That young lady has support from millions of FBAs. We are MILLIONS MORE IN POPULATION. Y'all ain't gonna deter or bother her, esp in a non-verbal sense. I am telling you blk immigrants, this may be a hot summer. Oh, and stay the hell away from OUR JUNETEENTH Celebrations!
English

@Kamjiverse They said they were indigenous to America so why should they worry about what Ghana says about Africa & African descendants?

English

FBA are crying because Ghana is fighting for reparations even though they claim to be indigenous aboriginal Americans and therefore have nothing to do with Afrika.

@blaxtruth @NEGRO_studiess Black indians were either African slaves or children/descendants of slave and Indian admixture. None of them were indigenous. And the dark skinned indigenous people look nothing like you. Even their hair is not Afro like yours

@JudenYeboah @scottbolshevik Nkrumah knew this so he built factories and even started building a gold refinery factory before they overthrow him
English

Terkper is right the IMF wasn’t built for Ghana.
1944, Bretton Woods: Africa wasn’t even at the table. The system was designed to rebuild industrial Europe, not commodity economies.
So here’s the mismatch:
IMF logic →
– Stable currencies
– Export manufacturing
– Strong institutions
Ghana’s reality →
– Cocoa & gold dependence
– External price control
– Weak industrial base
That’s the problem.
A system built for factories is being applied to raw commodity economies, and it stabilizes them, but doesn’t transform them.
