The Flashing Blade (1967). Historical French children's drama set during the War of the Mantuan Succession. Recut and redubbed by the BBC in 1969 and frequently shown throughout the 1970s. This is genuinely stirring stuff: great actions sequences and exciting horsemanship as the dashing spy Francois and his servant Gullot fight their way through enemy lines to end the Spanish siege of the castle of Casale. Originally a French TV co-production ('Le Chevailer Tempête') this superior costume drama caused problems when the BBC recut it into 25 minute episodes: the final dubbed episode had technical problems and could not be shown! The English theme song 'Fight', written by Alex Masters, was released as a single in 1969. This is also one of the few TV shows to use the Davida typeface in the opening titles.

A Happy Heavenly Birthday to Ray Kennedy, one of the finest players ever to pull on the Reds shirt. ❤️🙏

It’s 31 years to the day since Graham Taylor gave us some of the most famous football quotes ever, as England salvaged a 1-1 draw in Poland. Absolute TV gold.

"And he's off..." 😂

Eric Farrington, who had been a big Red since the early 1950’s, sadly passed away last month. Before he passed, his favourite player @kennethdalglish surprised him and he got to take in one last trip to Anfield with help from @NIVEAMENUK and The Anfield Wrap ❤️
