@LyesBouzidi10 Pep overthinking gene got to him, loss is solely on him
English

@LyesBouzidi10 Might be one of the biggest throws from a coach I’ve ever seen
English

@anecxohn @MesaTeppa14507 @himothy675x @FootbalGalaxy Contemplate if he does down or not? Lmao holy shit you are fucking retarded.
English

@Jmanriquez_21 @MesaTeppa14507 @himothy675x @FootbalGalaxy U can literally see acuna contemplate whether to go for the ball or go down if u watch it back slowly. France one is not similar to cubarsi, simeone goes down solely because of cubarsi contact, di maria goes down because he clips his own heel after dembele,(can see why its given)
English

@anecxohn @MesaTeppa14507 @himothy675x @FootbalGalaxy Ah yes, he buys the soft foul after getting clearly kicked. Some of you really are just a bunch of ignorant people the di maria one is also literally similar to the red cars for cubarsi this year vs ATM
English

@Jmanriquez_21 @MesaTeppa14507 @himothy675x @FootbalGalaxy Basically none still implies that there’s the slightest bit of contact which is why I said before that I can see why it was given. However, he buys the foul and is extremely soft imo
English

@anecxohn @MesaTeppa14507 @himothy675x @FootbalGalaxy "Basically none" and dumfries literally kicks acuña lmao. Fucking idiots, I swear
English

@MesaTeppa14507 @himothy675x @FootbalGalaxy Basically none bro. I also agree with the mbappe pen today that he completely sells it to the ref alongside the other pens I’ve stated
English

@himothy675x @FootbalGalaxy Netherlands one was basically no contact but I can slightly see why that’d be given, same with France although di Maria goes down because he clips his own heel but there is the tiniest bit of contact beforehand so
English

@anecxohn @FootbalGalaxy Only Croatia is debateable the other 2 were clear pens
English

@FootbalGalaxy Idk, Argentina 22 wc Croatia, Netherlands and France r all sus. You could argue both sides but I think the side going against giving it as a pen is wayyy stronger imo. ( idk all of Frances pens )
English

@anecxohn They're all deserved penalties. That's the context
English

@markofi28912251 @FootbalGalaxy Why would u want morocco to beat France, could be an all timer semis with France vs Spain, England Argentina
English

@FootbalGalaxy fr and need 🇦🇷 to beat 🏴 and 🇲🇦 to beat 🇫🇷
English

@AJ121_football Yh Portugal in possession were absolutely clueless, however I do think that the wingers were also to blame. The amount of times there was so much space to run into and instead wanted it into feet was so frustrating, maybe if Leao played more maybe they’d be in a better place🤷♂️

In regards to the performances of Portugal's midfield 3 at the World Cup, my position is this:
While they obviously aren't completely exempt from blame (Bruno's outing vs Spain for example was inexcusable), they were generally set up to fail.
Let me explain.
As I elaborated on in the thread below, Martinez:
1-Pushed them away from their favored areas, by having Neves and, especially, Vitinha frequently drop deep next to the CBs while pushing Bruno up as an ST/SS, thus vacating the midfield.
2-Consequently distanced them from each other, thus severely hampering their chances of combining to progress the ball, control possession, direct play... etc.
3-Didn't coach the team to execute any sort of sequences or tactics that would allow them to create/progress centrally in spite of points 1 and 2 (This is the topic of the first part of the thread below).
4-Insisted on not providing them with the necessary protection (a 3rd CB and/or an anchor/destroyer), which - along with the manager's clearly cautious approach - made them constantly wary of taking risks, even when a great opportunity presented itself. This was particularly clear with Vitinha.
The two first points alone are enough to make the tactical context highly disadvantageous to all 3.
And again, I'm not saying that every bad pass or bad decision by all three is on Martinez. I'm just saying that he placed them in a context where they're far more likely to make far more bad plays and decisions than they otherwise would, on top of reducing their impact.
So in short, to the question of "How did the trio which was expected to form the best midfield at the World Cup underperform so severely?", my answer would be "Well, the manager sat the team up in a way where you could hardly say it EVEN HAD a midfield."

THREAD: I repeatedly get asked what would by my ideal starting XI for Portugal. The thing is: While the selection DOES matter, the issues are much deeper! This is simply far from a well-coached team. Let me elaborate.

It's okay to be a Ronaldo fan and accept at some point Messi is the GOAT but if you "Convert" you're either a football prostirtue or you were never a Ronaldo fan. No in between.
E@Ellis_
I swear life since telling the truth and fully converting to a Messi fan in 2022 has been amazing. 4 years of pure bliss. I’m jealous of those of you who were able to appreciate this for 2 decades, but it’s better to be late than to never arrive at all.
English

idk if this is an insane take but if he wins the World cup again, should he win the Ballon d’or?

They can cry all they want, this is unheard of at 39 years old.

@Flair2Play Let’s not re write history and act like salahs been some scrub that can’t dribble
