I love Chappell Roam and I’m about to mute her name. The minutae people get mad about is mind boggling.

If you had a romantic partner and you all started fighting, and there was a child present, do you a) grab a phone and start recording while laughing or b) secure the fucking child? (Taking gender out of the equation)

@LifeIntheRegion Oh it was once my playhouse too! Lol the roof is rotted in a lot of places and the shingles are almost all off. Couple of broken windows. Really just needs torn down unless it can be fixed. Looks awful.

I didn’t even know this was a thing. Texture vs. taste: have you ever disliked a food purely because of how it feels, even though the flavor was actually good?

@aneerbas I'd try to help as many people as I could. The number of homeless/hungry people in this country is disgusting.

This young lady was called Phillis because that was the name of the ship that brought her, and Wheatley, the name of the merchant who bought her. She was born in Senegal 🇸🇳. In Boston, the slave traders put her up for sale: “She's 7 years old! She will be a good mare!” She was felt naked by many hands. At thirteen, she was already writing poems in a language that was not her own. No one believed that she was the author. At twenty, Phillis was questioned by a court of eighteen so-called enlightened White men in robes and wigs. She had to recite passages from Virgil and Milton and verses from the Bible, and vow that the poems she composed were not copied. From a chair, she underwent her lengthy examination until the court approved her: she was a woman, she was Black, she was enslaved, but she was a poet. Phillis Wheatley was the first African-American writer to publish a book in the United States 🇺🇸

Chappell Roan denies sending security guard after young fan: “I'm just gonna tell my half of the story of what happened today with a mother and child who were involved with a security guard who is not my personal security. I didn't even see, I didn't even see a woman and a child, like, I did not. No one came up to me, no one bothered me, like I was just sitting at breakfast in my hotel. I did not ask the security guard to go up and talk to this mother and child. I did not. They did not come up to me. They weren't doing anything. It's unfair for security to just assume someone doesn't have good intentions when they have no reason to believe because there's no action even taken. I do not hate people who are fans of my music. I do not hate children, like, that is crazy. I'm sorry to the mother and child that someone was assuming something, that you would do something, and that if you felt uncomfortable, that makes me really sad. You did not deserve that.”

@Housexofbalons @hyyPallavi @PopCrave She tried to. She taught her child not only is it okay to bother someone as they’re eating breakfast, also taught her to be indignant about it and make it their problem. “Aw I think that is her! Looks like she’s eating breakfast, so we’ll leave her alone” would be appropriate.

@PopCrave She says it wasn’t her security—but it happened in her space. At some point, indirect responsibility still counts. If she didn’t order it, then who’s accountable? Someone has to be.

@CalebJHull I don’t give one flying fuck. If someone goes and risks their lives (usually for the vanity of the sitting president) they deserve to be paid for the rest of the lives. Full stop. Forever. And full medical and mental health. Forever. No taxes. Don’t like it stop starting wars.

@pestctrlguy WTF? My brother in Christ, even at only $30k in loan you're paying an additional $8500 in interest alone. Why would you do that? You can get either 0% or 3.99% through Tesla right now.

We order a new Ford Maverick. Dealer calls and said they got financing approved but it’s a high rate so they recommend we put more down and in the future get approved for the Ford credit line to make things easier. I ask the rate. 12.99% I say let’s pause on the deal and let me make a few calls. 5 mins later the phone rings. They magically got it down to 8.49%. Don’t let these guys try to screw you over.

Game designers figured this out decades ago and it cost millions in failed launches. Will Wright built SimCity with a fully accurate traffic simulation. Testers hated it. The cars behaved realistically, which meant nobody could build a functioning city because real traffic is an unsolvable nightmare. He had to make the simulation dumber before the game became fun. The tension is permanent: the more accurately you model a system, the more it punishes the participant. Real medieval economies kept 90% of the population in subsistence farming. A historically accurate fantasy world doesn't produce heroes. It produces serfs. Tolkien solved this by making his economy deliberately vague. No one knows what a gold coin buys in Gondor. That ambiguity is a design choice, not a shortcut. The Reddit post is funny. The lesson underneath it is one of the hardest problems in simulation design: fidelity and fun are opposing forces, and you have to pick which one wins.
