@MadelaineLucyH He should just say he likes reading books about evil alien space crabs and be done with it. I happily admit it.

Went on a date with this guy. Told him I was writing a book. He asked what it was about. I said political thriller. He said that was good because “women just read and write porn trash these days”. I asked him what he reads. He went very quiet and said “philosophy”.
Reader, I asked him which philosophy books he’d read.

Excellent stuff. Had a further blood test to look again after two months at two items on the first, and have corrected them. Also got one other test that is of special interest to men. With the overall results I had Grok check averages to work out what age/fitness/health of man the test came from. Turns out it's what would be expected from a very fit and healthy one between the ages of 50 and 55. That of course that might say more about the health/fitness of the general population rather than me. But in the end, barring CAC score (need a scan for that), I do seem to have reversed the likely verdict of forty years of smoking and excessive drinking.

@jewel_hckr @elonmusk @grok good game.

Good grief, they're still wanking on about this rubbish. So much nutrition and medical "science" is built up on non-existent foundations. It's irritating. medicalxpress.com/news/2026-03-o…

In the UK I get heating at the press of a button. Here I have to clean the stove, get it lit up again, and lug around heavy lumps of wood. I think the second option is the better one because, if there's one thing I've learned about health, it is that we just don't move about enough. Every time I get a physical job done, I feel better. However, today I was questioning this hypothesis as I barrowed and stacked a ton or so of wood, while water ran inside my clothing and hail bounced off my head. 😂

Bloody annoying. Yesterday was Greek Independence Day so a national holiday. This meant the gym was closed. Great, I thought, this means I can have three days of recovery between sessions. Last night I slept nine hours, which was great too, until I got on the move. I'd obviously slept in the wrong position and felt like someone had jammed a screwdriver in my back. This morning has consisted of a hot beanbag, a struggle to put on a Ralgex-type cream and reluctantly taking Brufen. 🤷♂️ Fucking body.

@AhmedBaba_ Hilarious.
The bits I saw of it, were cringe and barely watchable.
But the right-wing haters killed it, I mean, they werent involved in producting or writing this, show.
English

Right-wing haters killed something that was objectively amazing. Starfleet Academy had one of the best first seasons of any Trek show. Period.
These anti-woke losers would’ve had a stroke at Riker rizzing up non-binary aliens in TNG. Star Trek has always been progressive.

@mcahogarth Tricky one, religious types will go with souls.
Will AI have souls?
Without God, or exceptionalism, is our intelligence, our adaptability, our cooperativeness, all within the realm of AI.
Will AI get to vote?
English

Also deeply amused at all the people assuming that I am a bad writer/reader because I can't tell AI writing. Frens, I can spot many AI tells in writing now. It's obvious to me. It's also obvious to me that a lot of people can't tell or don't care when I see reviews left on AI-written novels which are selling like hotcakes. And I'm looking toward a future where even people like me won't be able to tell because we're accelerating toward it. All the things you think AI won't be able to do... we're going to cross that threshold, a lot faster than you believe possible.
If your belief in human exceptionalism is the basis for whether human beings have value, you are cruising for an existential crisis. You must believe humans have value for more than what you perceive to be their unique ability to do this or that, or you're ngmi.

This flies in the face of the experience of every single person who has spent time around long-term weed smokers. As I have.
I am willing to listen to alternate explanations. Maybe people who do a ton of weed also take other drugs which are what's hurting their brains. Maybe people who are genetically predisposed to weed are already flakey. Maybe the researchers are weedheads.
And yes I know plenty of people who smoked weed who were cognitively just fine. It's fair to say it's minority that destroy their lives. But still. "No cognitive decline" - that's on a par with Piltdown man.
