Last week, my Ss worked on taking action on Underrepresentation in STE(M). One group created an interactive poster on black mathematicians. Another created 2 library displays of black women in STEM & will add more books to our collection #underrepresentation #STEMEd #Mathematics

@elissadunnlevy Also, grades and deadlines are inevitable (and IMHO, counter to all the "growth mindset" we tell students to have), but reflection and some error analysis acknowledges these constraints and asks Ss to focus on process go beyond grades. Are redos/corrections an option?

Hey #iteachphysics, I'm getting a lot of "I just did all that work for nothing!" comments when students realize they bungled a calculation. They struggle with the "learning is messy and nonlinear" thing. Any suggestions for a one-line reply that won't make their eyes roll?

Resilient learners recognize when they are stuck and have the language to ask for support when they need it. Most important, they hold a belief that they can “do math.” @edutopia edutopia.org/article/buildi…

When adults continue to learn at their jobs, research shows they're better at creating that experience for others. So if schools are going to be places where students test theories and learn from mistakes, those qualities must be present in their teachers. kqed.org/mindshift/5475…

.@PhysicsToday I am SO excited to read "Advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion: a how-to guide" by Rowan Thompson... ...but I'm also surprised and upset that it didn't rate a mention on the cover. Work this important deserves to be featured more. physicstoday.scitation.org/doi/10.1063/PT…
