I am very excited that bigergm is available on CRAN.
cran.r-project.org/web/packages/b…
It is an R package born from a great collaboration with Juan Nelson Martinez Dahbura, Shota Komatsu, Takanori Nishida at Sansan, Inc, Cornelius Fritz and Michael Schweinberger at Penn State University.

Modern supply chains don't look like trade theory 101!
They involve constant border crossings, each now hit by tariffs.
Tariffs raise prices, but the more important thing they do is disrupt supply relationships.

This risk is highly skewed with the most systemic repository affecting almost 90% of all repositories only two steps away. Protecting only the ten most important repositories reduces vulnerability contagion by nearly 40%. dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/36…

Very happy that @Prashant_Garg_ presents this today at @kielinstitute workshop. Work on this has started in 2017, but limited resources meant this couldn’t be done super well then. Technology has made it possible. I consider this to be incredibly significant to world affairs…

My first time at the @TheOfficialACM Conference on Economics and Computation (EC24). I learned a lot on LLMs and AI. Today my coauthor Co-Pierre Georg will present our paper on software dependency networks. All in all a good experience, and hope to come back next year.

@lihua_lei_stat SBMs are special cases of ERGMs, and you can interpret ERGMs as stationary equilibrium of a potential game with stochastic best response. Need a few assumptions, but it works in both directed and undirected case. Happy to chat at Cowles tomorrow.

#econtwitter Is there a game theoretic foundation for stochastic block models?

Very excited to present at the @YaleCowles Conference in Econometrics tomorrow. This year's theme is Networks. Great line up and lots of interesting papers!

I did the same on my very first day with my brother @angelo_mele. We actually said, clearly nobody is using this door while the lateral ones are overcrowded, let's be smart! We did both OK for those worried

@johnjhorton At Bocconi they say if you walk in between the lions at the entrance you won't graduate. I walked in between them on the first day because I assumed they would be on the outsidelike the teatro massimo in Palermo, instead of inside, which makes zero sense

@albertobisin @ben_golub When I was taught the theorem in Italy , that’s how they called it, Dini’s theorem. Then it took me a few minutes to figure out it was the same theorem when they called it implicit function theorem here. Also my English was pretty bad at the time, so maybe that was it…
English

@ben_golub I would like to add a motion to stop referring to the "Implicit function theorem" and start calling it with its rightful name of "Dini's theorem"!

Congratulations @hagmnn for getting voted up for tenure by the college’s executive committee! I’m so proud of you. You’re the best!!

We have already succesfully used the package in our research and have been able to estimate ERGMs models with community structure with more than 250,000 nodes. You can find some of this work in my webpage. meleangelo.github.io/research.html
