for as much as I love Sinners & glad it got made, it’s #interesting & seems like the director feels Black = Man, & Black = Woman, & Man & Woman = Cisgender & Straight. all that research & care just to be intentionally silent about the queer things that make our music possible

Even from the first watch, I found it weird how there was room for making connections to Chinese culture in the big dance scene, but not include any nods to voguing or house music. Noticing that didn't stop me from enjoying the movie, at all (but I'm also not an idiot, so...)

The lack of visible recognition for Black queer artistry was always one of the more glaring omissions from Sinners. I don't think it undermines how great of a movie it is to name that (unless you're homophobic and/or generally lack critical thinking skills).

@TheKingofReads Janelle Monáe's age of pleasure show was my last concert. I've been priced out from attending live events ever since. Not a worthwhile investment for me at these prices lol

Many of us understand. We don’t care. And when certain autists do care enough to the point of even practicing to engage “correctly”, yall still treat many of them like freaks so what’s the point?
Bhangbhangduc@bhangbhangducx

autistic (and many allistic) people don't understand that conversation is a game. You respond to something someone else said, add a small thing to the conversation, and pitch it back to the other person.

@SoualiganAmazon Exactly. And this is why I've increasingly found myself just opting out of spaces where I feel like I have to force trying to fit. Not only does it usually not work...it also is just so much unnecessary effort for basic ass ppl who really aren't worth the trouble lol

I see how yall treat autists who play your silly social game. The ones who care DEEPLY about making friends/ people liking them in social settings like work or school. Even when they say the “right” things you punish them for something simple like mannerisms.

It's actually 100% possible to maintain healthy, enjoyable connections w/ ppl, while also being very clear and honest on the depth of that connection what maintains it Problem is, y'all think that the fakeness is a required part of virtually all connections when it's really not

And my belief is only reaffirmed by how even that explanation is bullshit lol In my exp, ppl who expect you to pretend the stuff that they care about is meaningful to you for the sake of maintaining a relationship are VERY bad at reciprocating that energy w/ stuff you care about

That this seems to be the more socially accepted position just sums up why I largely keep to myself and stay surface level w/ most people I come across Neurotypicals are WAY too comfortable with blatantly being fake as a foundation for virtually all their interactions lol
BO@bo_austin_

yeah, that’s called being bad at socializing — socializing is predicated on pretending you think something is meaningful because it might be very meaningful to the person you’re talking to
