I miss being swept up in her enthusiasm for Christmas day. I miss the centrifugal force she created that brought our family so tightly together. I miss the joy she radiated in just being with us. I miss her delight in being with me.

On Dec 22, 2017 she didn't finish the wait and died just short of her 81st Christmas.

I can still feel the excitement of Christmas eve morning. She'd want to go over the lists. I'd roll my eyes and inside delight at having this small slice of her time just for me. We'd do what needed to be done, have one last visit to the mall. Then her waiting was over.
