“Therapuss” host Jake Shane is facing online backlash for asking Kacey Musgraves to explain a lyric about time zones from her 2018 track “Slow Burn": “My favorite line from that song, obviously, is ‘Sun’s going down, but in Beijing, they’re headed out to work.’ What do you mean by that? Me and Manny, who I work with, debate it every single day.” variety.com/2026/music/new…

Andrew Garfield says he recently watched the Harry Potter films for the first time, but added: “we shouldn’t be putting money in the pocket of inhumane legislation right now through she that shall remain nameless.”

it's actually insane that the academy nominated a film about a palestinian child who was k*lled by israel but the actors involved in that movie can't attend the oscars because they're not allowed to enter in the united states.

I understand that the BBC has to use ads for international users, but an ad saying ‘America the bold’ on a live page about the US war with Iran feels very off to me

Excellent follow up (according to family lore, two-year-old me was fuming when rolling news coverage interrupted my favourite programme)

The team at 5 News would like to pay tribute to one of our own legends. One of our longest-serving camera operators, Mark Vinall, has sadly died at home after a long illness. Many of the excellent pictures you have seen on this programme over the past 20 years were filmed by Mark. He was brilliant at his job and a delight to work with. Mark loved 5 News and we loved him. We will miss him dearly.

who signed off on this? dumbing down sports content “for females” by chucking captions on videos about matcha in pink glowy writing is actually the most patronising thing you could have done

Two years of war. Gaza is exhausted, its people are hungry, homeless, and running out of hope. Many now beg for peace, even an imperfect one.“We just want to live,” a young father told the BBC.

The Night of October 6th 2023: It felt like a farewell party to everything beautiful a goodbye to all that we had built and achieved over decades in this demanding profession we call journalism. The evening began with a warm gathering in the garden of my friend Adel al-Zaanoun’s home in Tel al-Hawa, a pot of coffee fragrant with cardamom, a plate mixing the last fruits of summer with the first oranges of winter, and a conversation about the future. Then came a call from Abu Hamza Wael al-Dahdouh: “Where are you guys? Come over , I have a guest coming who wants to join the talk.” It was our friend Sameer Ayyad (Abu Anas) on his way to see us, so we phoned him and told him to head to Wael’s house. Whenever I remember that night, I laugh once and cry many times. It was a warm, generous gathering in a home full of love and kindness. Orange and olive trees surrounded the garden; in the middle stood a brazier with a coffee pot releasing the scent of cardamom and a teapot boiling beside it. Gaza was there in all her beauty and spirit. Three journalists who had covered three decades of the city’s turbulent history, a businessman whose companies built much of modern Gaza, who once told me in Cairo: “Every Israeli missile that hits a building feels like a piece of my heart exploding.” And a calm, rational politician the kind who sees reality as it is, not through the lens of reckless adventure that brought us to where we are today. We left Wael’s home late that night, planning to return home, but Sameer insisted we visit his new house first. “This is the result of forty years of working day and night,” he said proudly, standing before a masterpiece of white granite surrounded by lush gardens and outdoor seating that rivalled the finest resorts. I wish I hadn’t accepted the invitation… because when I later saw the photos of that house reduced to rubble, I felt a deep ache in my heart. Just one night separated the life we once knew surrounded by our families and friends from a devastating war that took tens of thousands of lives, left indescribable destruction and displacement, and carved deep wounds of loss and grief into our hearts. I wish we hadn’t gathered that night… for time stopped there, and all that remains are painful memories and a faint hope that God will one day mend our broken hearts and exhausted souls

Biggest scoop of the night is she hasn’t started planning the wedding but when she does it will be huge as she wants to invite everyone - including Graham Norton.

The High Court has dismissed Noel Clarke’s £70m libel claim, ruling the Guardian’s reporting was “substantially true”. More than 20 women stood firm, refusing to be bullied or intimidated. A landmark for survivors and for public interest journalism. ➡️ theguardian.com/media/2025/aug…
