My mom died of cancer in 2018. Caring for her while writing a dissertation and having a child was the best and most painful thing I've ever done. It also shifted my research from cancer prevention to caregiving. Today, my 1st caregiving study is out w/an editorial by (1/2)

The super hippie salad/rice bowl restaurant in Cambridge MA sold their business to Panera. It’s surprising, hilarious… and kind of warms my heart. Those hippies are going to live a very comfortable life.

Black cgs' higher levels of social support and caregiving preparedness partly explain why they fare better than Whites on social, emotional, & physical burden. We theorize (but can't prove) that structural discriminatory forces have inadvertently bolstered these resources.

As a sociologist, it broke my brain how little focus there has been on racial & ethnic disparities in cancer caregiving (though as a sociologist, I understood why). Today, our study @MASCC_JSCC sheds some light...and is open access thanks to my @DFCI grant link.springer.com/content/pdf/10…

Immense admiration for Iranian women’s (and men’s) bravery whirling hijabs from atop of police cars and shaving their heads in defense of women’s bodily autonomy…But also shame we’re not doing the same here for abortion rights.
