@Serellan If someone tells me they’re embarking on a risky self-employment venture I would probably ask, “Do you have a backup income stream?” because that’s just a good idea. But I have 100% made educational resources as a means of procrastinating, I won’t lie

@Serellan But I think reality is in-between for most people. Making content about games can be a steady income stream as a backup for the uncertainty of game development. It also helps you grow a community (YouTube etc) that can serve as a marketing vector for eventual releases.

Why is that person spending their time selling you courses or video series on how to make indie games? Because they aren’t making a living making indie games. 🤷‍♀️

@KokeVFX It's clickbait now. Early on there were people actually trying to pass this off as legit but now there are number of prominent accounts who call them out on it. And they've realized they can farm getting called out Screenshotting them (or not engaging at all) is the right choice

@MattiaMerenda2 @IsThisA3DModel You ever met one of those kids whose parents didn’t teach them the difference between “good attention” and “bad attention”? Couple months back he compared anti AI folks to being nazis and he caught heat but also kudos from a bunch of weirdos Now it’s like a weird vendetta thing

the creator of three.js just spent the last week posting fake 3D models trying desperately to get our attention, tagged us on some shitty white house post for unknown reasons and then blocked us again. what a weirdo lol

@alightinastorm @IsThisA3DModel “I can waste years worth of time because my time is worthless” Damn man, guess you got us there! You 100% seem like a guy with a lot of free time and very little else to do. No arguments here! You’ve got the time, the drive, and the potential to win the AI bootlicker Olympics

@JeremyWard33 The benefits of AI rely on people not behaving the way they normally do AI is great…as long as nobody uses it to: Lie, cheat, steal, impersonate others, spread misinformation, spread propaganda, pollute, waste resources, exploit workers, sexualize people without consent, etc

@wasphyxiation You hire enough AI/ML engineers they and their managers are going to consistently suggest features that keep them busy and grant them exposure to leadership. Is what they make “good”? Who cares! Better to ship a full plate of garbage than to have people be idle, right??

@wasphyxiation There’s also the old standby at MS we called “shipping the org chart” Where the product is designed not around what is good or useful but by who is available to work on it. The product features get defined by giving everyone something to do.

This is why Microsoft is seemingly desperate to shove "Copilot" into every corner of Windows The L5 who is desperate to make L6 despite budget cuts and layoffs wants to put "re-architected a key utility to use state-of-the-art AI" in his promotion packet
Sherman McCoy@wasphyxiation

Internal performance / promotion politics are an under-discussed cause of enshittification In 2025 “AI” is the big buzzword so every app gets a chatbot so that the PM can impress the VP In 2013 “cloud” and “big data” were the it, so we get a SimCity with cloud and big data

@YurieAkko Imo it sits on that spectrum between “not worth the money” and “scam”. Where exactly is a matter of personal discretion. The problem is that even amazing art schools could arguably be somewhere on the spectrum because “worth the money” is contingent on career opportunities

@YurieAkko The real question is: does that count as a scam? At the time I’d say no, but it was a state school and I was a resident so it was cheap(ish) for what I eventually got But also it was 15 years ago so it’s like 4-5x the cost so now (and it was always a rip off for out of state)…

@EnviroEngine @dilanesper So in the end a lot of the hate for roundabouts boils down to not wanting to pay that much attention. Same reason motorists don’t like sharing the road/intersections with cyclists or pedestrians. They want to look at the car in front of them only and not negotiate w/ anyone else

@EnviroEngine @dilanesper In the end what I think most people hate about roundabouts is that it’s a “negotiated” intersection. You don’t get a green light telling you it’s your turn, you have to wait and watch. Your wait time may be less at a roundabout but it is “active” waiting, not passive.

traffic circles suck and one of the reasons i don't trust a lot of policy wonks in this area is because they advocate this drivers do not understand them which means tons of accidents and near misses. Go back to signals and stop signs.
Mark R. Brown, AICP, CNU@CompletedStreet

Roundabouts are the closest thing to a cure-all. -Better traffic flow -Lower injury and fatality rates -Lower maintenance costs -More aesthetic than traditional intersections We need more of them.

@JensensLaw Remember that they could have used their tokens to generate something they like. Something that they think would make people happy Instead they need to use ai to make an ai strawman defense Like paying a marketing team come up with a big presentation for why marketing is great!

@JessieStarTF It is telling that they never present their work as valuable in its own right. This isn’t a trailer for an idea, like a teaser for a full/short film. This is just marketing for the software that made it. This isn’t a “filmmaker”showing their work. This is a sales pitch.

AI prompters want to be seen as artists but don't want the critique on basics all creatives get. Why? Because the nature of their tool pushes out visually polished, yet structurally unrefined pieces via insane speed and broad referencing that throws consistency and detail out the window, and they don't want to risk generating again and drifting even further from their intent, so they just pretend the flaws don't exist. Some of them care. Some of them are trying to explore and frustrated that their Idea is not excepted. But a HUGE amount of them are just here to "stick it to artists" to put out mass spectacle over substance, putting a denial and laziness on display which goes a long way to show why they never honed art skills. They don't like technique, process, and time investment, because it's all missing from their prompted generations.

@thatdaffyduck People will start paying more attention to ai when ai is presented to them as something other than a sales pitch for more ai. This isn’t trying to be a short film, it’s advertising for the software that made it.

@thatdaffyduck You notice they never present it as something you should enjoy or like looking at. It’s never, “I prompted this short film, please take a look.” Instead it’s steeped in hustle culture lingo: “Normies are cooked! Get ready for big paradigm shifts! Follow me for tips and tricks!”

"Hollywood is COOKED." "Indie filmmaking is about to EXPLODE." "Artists are about to be left BEHIND." "I made this within 24 HOURS." "This is an absolute GAME-CHANGER." All that talk just for the footage to look like the shit I took last night. Thanks, Hackney.
Justin Hackney@JustinHackney33

I just generated a $100M sequence in my bedroom. 🎥🔥 Early access to Seedance 2.0 is an absolute game-changer. The way it edits, Character consistency across wildly different styles (live-action, claymation, CGI) is finally 1:1 Thousands of characters, zero artifacts, and native audio-visual sync. Indie filmmaking is about to explode. @Seedance_AI - you guys actually did it. @WonderStudiosX just got a visual upgrade for every project. #Seedance2 #AIVideo #Filmmaking
