@dragonflystats networkx in python and Gephi to make it look fancy. Edges represent % of a candidates vote transferred to another candidate. Gets a bit messy when multiple candidates go out in a single count. Was an idea I had after seeing some tweets/ballots posted during the European elections

An attempt to graph the transfers of Kerry #GeneralElection24. The network finds 4 clusters in which the members are more strongly connected than they are to the members of other clusters.

The idea with these network graphs is that candidates who transfer heavily between each other will cluster together and "isolate" themselves from clusters whose members they transfer little to so that transfer patterns can be visualised. This is something I tried with the European Parliament elections following a few tweets about odd transfer patterns. In this election a ballot paper in Dublin was posted with PBP no 1, FF no 2 and FG no 3, a pattern not often repeated I imagine. twitter.com/anquantarbuile…

@JP_Mc_C Very much a work in progress, more to show what kind of visualisations can be made if properly formatted data is provided. I'll be putting the geojson file up on github eventually, corrections/suggestions greatly welcome

@JP_Mc_C Map was made using a spreadsheet of the townlands in each polling district from the KCC website. Lots of uninhabited areas and islands not on the sheet but would end up getting drawn so I assigned them to closest PD.

Big health warning on the boundaries, I stitched this map together from an excel spreadsheet of the townlands in each polling district and I have no doubt that errors were made! It's a work in progress.

When Barrett was eliminated shortly after his votes largely went to Cahill but he gave more to Blaney than he did to either Kelly or Casey, out of step with other candidates in a similar part of the network.
