@salopcast Improved second half at least and a clean sheet - small mercies

@salopcast That wind is worth a goal at least. No way we get away with a clean sheet.

HT 0-0 Salop had the wind first half and could regret not making the most of it. Some little pockets of decent play but a lot of mistakes and over hit balls. Didn’t learn! Hard to judge Barrow given the wind but they looked poor, and time wasted a lot. 🔶🔷

@RuytonShrew Negatives - we are still poor in the wide areas, especially defensive, and lack depth. Positives - we've got rid of three players who weren't playing anyway and brought in two players who will start. Add McDermott and England into the mix and we are starting to see a change.

I will say that, on the whole, the list on the right looks better than the list on the left. On that basis, we are better. Is it enough, though? Still so many issues in our team. #Salop x.com/BBCShropSport/…

@salopcast Credit where it’s due, much better second half. Must ask why Stewart and England haven’t featured more.

@salopcast I think Boyle back in. Nurse to LWB. I'd put Gillead in at RWB - think he has the experience/ ability and engine to be an upgrade there vs. Hoole. Personally would get Lloyd into that line up too as gives us a better out ball but suspect it will be the same front two.

@salopcast @AnalysisShrews He's been coming on as a sub for a long time - I reckon it's a big pre-season for him to prove his fitness - has been around League One now for long enough to be considered a regular starter.

@Salop_Ian @salopcast @willthomas67 Same, I don't have any other knowledge on this and I'm not au fait with land registry searches but I bet some of our fans are experts at it!

@salopcast @willthomas67 @ant_d_thomas As far as I’m aware the club owns the stadium site and the training ground. The ownership would be recorded at HM Land Registry of anyone wishes to search further.

@simonfleet @Ebenno88 @salopcast Simon, if this was true, the club would have to disclose these payments in the accounts. STFC owns the stadium. It does not pay any rent as a result.

@Ebenno88 @salopcast Agree Elliott but RW has taken far more than £2.5m out over the years which is not visible on any accounts submitted to companies house as landlord of the land the ground sits on. STFC is just a tenant of stadium and surrounding facilities, he is landlord.

The KEY thing from this, all expenditure down to help keep club sustainable. AND for everyone out there bashing the owner, read that figure £2.5M loan written off. £2.5M of a man’s own wealth written off! Investment needed for sure BUT a wealthy fan/owner done what he can 👏🏽

The past is gone. We cannot change it. So sure, use Thursday's forum to air all the transfer frustration you want. But then, lets back the players we do have in the building and get behind them in the battles ahead. We can do this! #Salop

Transfer windows do something to the minds of football fans. There's a desperation for new faces, and panic when they don't arrive. I'm not immune - I was refreshing every 30 seconds last night, waiting for signings at #Salop. In this long 🧵 I suggest we all need to calm down!

@RuytonShrew I immediately thought similar when I posted it! I'm guessing Mrs Santa wouldn't fancy a Thursday night out to Shrewsbury in January to see what the fuss is about 😘

@henrywinter Klopp. He's available, knows the English game well. Wants a role which is slightly less time intensive. Plays a brand of football which is exciting and has success in cup competitions. Go get him FA!

There is a general acceptance now that Gareth Southgate has taken England as far as he can, and that a finisher is required. But who? For the past two years, the obvious three potential successors debated on this timeline have been Eddie Howe and Graham Potter, if the FA goes English, or Mauricio Pochettino, if the FA acknowledges that St George’s Park is not developing sufficient English managerial talent – yet - and/or it is not finding the pathway into elite club level (where foreign owners often go foreign coach and the talent is obvious). Potter is admired at the FA, but will the Chelsea failure count against him, and how will the players respond? Howe, a more obvious choice, was linked with the England job in 2016 when Roy Hodgson left, is popular, plays good football, but would he leave Newcastle United now? Pochettino is available, has a good track record of working with young English players (at Southampton and Spurs), plays good football, and very popular with players, staff and media. My choice fwiw: Eddie Howe.
