@AmandaPCraig Emma is a great example of that. On a first read, I saw things largely from Emma’s perspective and then on a second read I could see how incredibly clever JA had been.

Yes! but - BUT - rereading allows for a deeper pleasure, noticing small but important details, savouring dialogue , plot pacing, particular words. It’s not just the first headlong rush that matters.

Does anyone else agree with me that Amazon is a total fail on the copywriting front? If they actually employed someone with basic writing skills to write product descriptions with some emotional appeal, they could raise prices by 10% and sell more. They don't need to become the J Peterman catalogue, but just make an effort.

The director Michael Apted died in 2021. The Up film series has aired since 1964. Final episodes this year.

Me too, although I have found that buying a second-hand hardback edition can be more cost-effective and has the bonus of making you feel like you're rehousing a stray.
