@hardkid24 @jeneps I'm an abolitionist, but I think the slogan should be "disband the police".
Defund makes it sound like we want police driving around in broken cars etc. Disband means tearing down a broken institution, rebuilding only what's necessary, and reinvesting in other forms of care.

I would agree that "disband the police" would probably be a more effective slogan than "defund the police".

@Manleyan_Lulist Looking back, it seems like Webb had a lot more establishment support than I remember. It was more of a national vs local difference, but Webb still owes a lot of his support to the netroots.

@Manleyan_Lulist Webb became a Senator because of the left. He was very much not the establishment choice, but the left supported him because he was anti-war and pro criminal justice reform / good on civil liberties. Same for Jon Tester.

In a similar way, the netroots supported Jack Murtha over Steny Hoyer to be majority leader. Even though Murtha was more conservative, he was more anti-war.

I believe that Jews and Arabs can and should be neighbors, friends, and comrades, I believe the framework that can best achieve that is one of cosmopolitan socialism, not oppressive nationalism.
