Atheism is obviously not a religion, but it's also obviously a belief. It's not a belief in gods, but it's a belief about gods. It seems to me this redefinition is intended to present atheism as a kind of default position & thus rhetorically cast a wider membership net.

Christianity seems like a good deal for murderers, r*pists, and generally bad people. But for the rest of us, requiring a blood sacrifice in order to be forgiven for ordinary human flaws seems outrageously disproportionate. 🤷‍♂️🤨

@yuckyminarchist I was talking about myself but since you mention it, Christians believe for many reasons and fear is definitely one of them. Talk to any Christian who has deconstructed and most will say the fear of Hell was the most difficult part to overcome.

Many Christians say "atheists just want to sin without consequences." But if their god is real, I still have consequences regardless of what I believe. Not believing a system doesn't free me from it, if it is indeed real. What's going on here? 🤔🤷‍♂️
