The war in Iran is turning young voters away from the GOP, and anyone telling you otherwise is gaslighting you. They may not switch to voting Democrat (as they should not, because American foreign policy has been awful under both parties), but many will simply stay home. The GOP already struggles to generate large voter turnout for anyone who is not Trump, and this conflict is disenfranchising younger voters and independents in record numbers. The only people who support war with Iran are boomers who believe Israel is the source of all good in the world, and spiritual boomers who treat Fox News like a direct link to God. Every single person I know in real life is against it. Diehard MAGA supporters cannot deliver a midterm victory on their own. Why is this approach failing so badly? Because conditions in the country are not good enough to make it palatable without widespread backlash. If the economy were booming, the cost of consumer goods were much lower, foreign visa workers were not replacing American jobs, and younger people could afford homes, it would have been an easier sell. The truth is that Trump has faced incredible roadblocks at every turn, both judicially and legislatively. He cannot even get the SAVE Act through, which should be a slam dunk. Our Senate has been largely useless and often malicious. If things are not already going well, you cannot simply pile on something like this. I am not one of the "deportations are not even happening" people, because they absolutely are. We now have net negative immigration for the first time in decades. The problem is that there is no realistic way to deport people at the rate they were entering. We should have paid Erik Prince his proposed bounty to take over operations and complete the task successfully. You cannot treat political X as an accurate reflection of how the rest of the country feels, but the sentiment is clearly trickling down into the broader population. Our support for Israel is becoming a major issue with younger voters. Even political normies are starting to talk about the country being owned by Israel. Water cooler discussions are shifting toward billionaire pro-Israel donors like Miriam Adelson, with people claiming Trump is owned. This represents a huge shift. Democrats offer the same level of support to Israel (look at the funding provided during the Israel-Palestine conflict), but they are much quieter about it. Republicans throw a celebration every time they mention Israel. This completely turns off younger voters. This is not black-pilling. While I do not believe the midterms will bring a total blue wave, I do believe Democrats will take the House and Senate in the coming elections. Why would Republican voters turn out when Congress has failed to accomplish anything meaningful in the last year? 2028 is not entirely lost, but at this rate it will be. Trump needs to pivot all of his focus back to the domestic issues that won him his elections. That is what normal people care about. When average soccer moms are talking about Netanyahu being the president of the United States, your party is in trouble. The bombings are already unpopular, but boots on the ground would be a disaster. US casualties would not sit well with anyone, and for a party already suffering from dwindling support, it would be a death sentence in the elections.
