One thing you notice in old photos are how unattractive the women were. Even with high status men. There wasn't a "dating market" like how we engage in. It was a circle of people and one knew someone and that was it. It's a woman. She wasn't fat. She knew your family. That was it.
today it's much different.

Status update.
Driving through lots of tiny New Zealand settlements that look like 1870s US goldrush towns, all with names starting with O and containing too many vowels.
Each contains a temple to coffee.

@PolemicTMM I grew up very close to there - have done Lake Dunstan but not the Rail Trail or Alps2Ocean (more time required and only get back for short visits). Have heard both are fantastic though (esp A2O)
