Today, in Slavutych, in the north of our country, I met with the heads of communities of the northern regions – Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. It is very important to support our people here and strengthen our defenses, and that is exactly what we are doing. This concerns protective infrastructure – fortifications and other defensive measures – as well as strengthening the border, which will be reinforced further. It also concerns our Defense and Security Forces stationed in this direction – toward Chernihiv and Kyiv from the territory of neighboring Belarus, which Russia is eager to draw deeper into this war, and from Russia’s Bryansk region. We have the capability to strengthen our defenses. We also have the capability to act preventively with regard to Russian territory from which threats may emerge, and with regard to the de facto leadership of Belarus, which must stay on its toes – that is, clearly understand that there will be consequences if aggressive actions against Ukraine, against our people, are taken.

A good meeting with the leaders of communities in the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. I thank everyone for the substantive work and for caring so much about your communities, your people, and all of our Ukraine. We discussed protection against potential Russian threats in the Chernihiv-Kyiv direction, as well as strengthening air defense and protection against drones in the north of Ukraine. The Ministry of Defense has been given the relevant task. The threats that existed from the first days of the full-scale war remain just as present today. Everyone understands perfectly well that Ukraine cannot allow even a fraction of a repeat of the risks our people faced back in February 2022. The implementation of resilience plans, the strengthening of the defense of the Chernihiv-Kyiv direction, the reinforcement of fortifications in this direction, and the number and training of personnel – all these signals from us reduce the chance of renewed escalation. We also spoke separately about repairing local roads. Logistics is extremely important, and all work must be carried out as soon as possible. Our government officials have also been tasked with providing greater support to the Chornobyl NPP staff. The Minister of Finance of Ukraine promised that decisions on the issue of salaries would be made already in June. I thank every community for its active engagement. We will continue this format of interaction with communities and the prompt resolution of issues.

There are good results from the warriors of the SSU Special Operations Center “A.” A Russian FSB headquarters has been struck, and a Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile system has been destroyed in our temporarily occupied territory. Thanks to just this one operation, Russian losses amount to around a hundred occupiers killed and wounded. Russians must feel that they must bring this war of theirs to an end. Ukraine’s medium- and long-range sanctions will keep working.

Another Ukrainian long-range sanction against Russian oil refining – and we are continuing this line of action. This time around, it was the Syzran oil refinery – more than 800 kilometers away from our border.
