Not only does this way of thinking hurt the philosophical field, but focusing on these sci-fi issues only perpetuates the collective panic that exists around these technologies while neglecting their actual risks. (8/11)

For my NLP class that just wrapped up, students worked in teams to a.) create a "new" NLP task; b.) annotate data to support it, including guidelines + datasheet; c.) give guidelines + data to another group to reproduce their work + calculate IAA; d.) build a model to predict it.

here's what it looks like! it's based on a nanogenmo project of mine from a few years ago (source code here: github.com/aparrish/word-…). i'm so pleased with the end result—james made a remarkable physical artifact out of the "manuscript" I gave him (i.e., a zip file of weird pngs)
