Let me preface this first. I say this with absolute respect and admiration for what Carter Starocci has done and is attempting tonight. The ESPN crew had a vote last night shortly after the Semi, and decided to make a unified decision. Wrestling fans know Carter, the world knows Gable. Gable is an Olympic Gold medalist, played a stint in the NFL, and was on the WWE roster. It’s unquestionable his audience is larger. Carter’s 5th is epic. However, the casual fan will ask what’s the significance of 5. Why is it important and why has no one else ever done it? No one has had the chance, and no one ever will accompanied by the perplexing explanation of the COVID year, and extra eligibility. I think both guys will be given their due credit tonight. Both are exceptional competitors and the World will watch with anticipation. With two men of this magnitude there could only be one to close the show. But this format makes an incredible event from start to finish. Don’t be late! 🍿

Had a lot of fun at the TI Duals this weekend. This is the culminating event of the Apex Wrestling year and I got to corner these kids that I have watched grow up (most from as far back as youth wrestling) compete. They wrestled hard and were true competitors.

Thanks Coach Bovenzi for giving me an opportunity to compete with @apexcompetitor this weekend in the Thousand Islands!

@AndyHrovat @MrPatMineo Lower budget D1 kids have the ncaa tourney to prove themselves. There’s a good 125lber out there that was discarded that a lot of big schools would like rn. Now he’s a 2x AA. IMO The restriction based on budgets idea runs counter to what wrestling has always been about.

@MrPatMineo Maybe the smaller schools shouldn’t be in the same division with other schools who have more resources. I think there needs to be a restricting of divisions based on budget

NCAA Champion Andrew Allrez was offered $150K NIL deal to stay put at Northern Colorado, but ultimately decided to test the NIL waters for his final year of eligibility. It’s tough for these smaller schools man…

@magicman_psu @YianniD_LGR We neeed more people to wrestle folkstyle like you did. I’ve seen my share of boring freestyle matches too. 3 pt takedown was exposed as a mistake. Get a take and run was the theme of the tourney in too many matches. The extra stall call is baked into the strategy now.

We need a step out in folkstyle.
