On the heels of our incredible event in the Swiss Alps last June, @paulca, @EamonLeonard, and I have formed a non-profit to sustainably support This Next Thing. I’m delighted to join as its inaugural Executive Director! thisnextthing.com

@SylwiaVargas @bnferguson have participants and ambassadors like Brandon! The people make the event, and figuring out how best to reach and then connect the right people in a fulfilling way can be complicated work but also so rewarding. Thanks for the reminder of its value and the kind words overall!

Happy to see more events pop up these days such as camps, retreats, hangouts, cruises, unconferences. In other words, spaces that foster deep connections. By design, most confs are one-directional and can't facilitate meaningful discussions. That's not bad, just different goals.

I'm considering hosting an in-person event at this location in Utah in September. - 2 days, 1 night (lodging provided) - Awesome facilitated activities - Workshop by myself - Talks by a few others (possibly) - Intimate (30ish people) - Snacks/coffee/meals provided Wanna come?

Something new we're trying this year is one-night-only, intimate events in 3 cities (Berlin, Dublin, & San Francisco). Each one is a multi-course dinner in a hand-picked venue, threaded throughout with storytelling and the This Next Thing spirit.

Hello! Somehow it's March already -- time to start thinking about exciting summer plans! In our little This Next Thing planning clubhouse, we've been quietly refining details for TNT 2024, and it's finally time to share it with the world.

Between @EamonLeonard’s perfect encapsulation and all of the amazing pictures in his 🧵, even I got swept away in thinking “Aw, I wanna go!!” before remembering that, of course, I will obviously be there. 😆 Come join us — it’s going to be phenomenal!

In June we brought 160 founders, investors, technologists and people trying to make an impact, together for a few days in the eastern Swiss Alps. As a group, we examined technology from the perspectives of creativity, magic, and meaning. It was an experiment, and it worked!👇

You can read much more about the event here (thisnextthing.com/2024). If this sounds like it could be your type of thing, we’ve just opened up Early Access tickets. If you have any questions about it, don’t hesitate to reach out!

I’m also so excited to announce that we will be coming back in 2024! While we’re retaining many of the magical elements of this past year — gathering creative minds in the Swiss Alps in June — we’re also already cooking up several enhancements and surprises too.

So I’ve been enjoying freelance life for a full year now: working only with people I heartily enjoy, on projects I find enormously exciting. Which is why I’m so psyched to tell you about what has finally tempted me to commit to a more lasting thing:

I’m so psyched to attend this, let alone help it hopefully live up to @paulca’s & @EamonLeonard’s awesome vision. Paul does a much better job explaining things here (vi.to/hubs/this-next…) & at the event site, so all I’ll say is: I’m utterly blown away so far. See you in 🇨🇭🏔️!

@alf702003 @rgay For charging at a Tesla spot when I didn’t have a Tesla. She didn’t see at first that I was using an adapter and thought I was just parking there. Then when I pointed out that I was charging my car, she told me that she was pretty sure the spots were only for charging Teslas. 😒

@rgay I tried using the adapter once to charge my car at a Tesla charger and a Tesla owner drove up and yelled at me. 🤷🏻‍♀️😭 I still keep it in my car for emergencies but I definitely wouldn’t rely on it.

@mimismartypants I saw “perfect comfortable wool house shoes” and said, she MUST be talking about the ones I just got as a Christmas present because that’s the exact description I’d give, and then… yes. I have the same ones, and I’ve been wearing them daily!
