“जाति भूलनी होगी” - विवेचना - आख़िरी लाइन ज़रूर पढ़ियेगा। पर संविधान और सरकार जाति याद रखने को कहते हैं। जाति-जनगणना, जाति को ROM/RAM में डालने के साथ साथ Hard Drive और Cloud में सहेजने की तैयारी है। आप इस अंतर-जातीय वर्चू सिग्नलिंग को एक बार खरोंच कर देखिए: एक महिला GEN केटेगरी के किसी जाति से आती है, विवाह वो ओबीसी या एससी से करती है, तो वो महिला ओबीसी या एससी के बेनेफिट्स नहीं ले सकती। हाँ उन दोनों का बच्चा स्टेट के द्वारा पिता की जाति का और ओबीसी/एससी कैटेगरी का माना जाएगा। इसके उलट, एक महिला ओबीसी/एससी केटेगरी के किसी जाति से आती है, विवाह वो GEN केटेगरी के पुरुष से करती है, तो वो महिला ओबीसी/एससी के बेनेफिट्स से वंचित नहीं होती। हाँ उन दोनों का बच्चा स्टेट के द्वारा पिता की जाति का और GEN कैटेगरी का माना जाएगा। अर्थात्, महिला अंतर-जातीय विवाह में भी अपनी जाति को लेकर चलती है। ऐसा किसी स्मृति ने नहीं बल्कि संविधान और संविधान की विवेचना करने वाले न्यायालय ने तय किया है। उनका कहना है कि जाति जन्म-आधिरित है और आपके इधर से उधर उछलने के बावजूद अपनी पहचान नहीं खोती। यानि जाति भूलकर अंतर-जातीय विवाह करने वाले स्त्री-पुरुष को स्टेट याद दिलाता है कि उनकी जाति क्या है और उन्हें स्टेट के बेनेफिट्स और सुरक्षा उसी आधार पर मिलेंगे। अंतर-जातीय विवाह भारत में एक सामाजिक सुधार कार्यक्रम रहा है पर तब जब हिंदू समाज खेतिहर परिवेश में था और ब्रिटिश राज ने उसे किसी अल्फाबेटिकल चिड़ियाघर में नहीं डाला था। आज का समय शहरीकरण और औद्योगीकरण का है जो जातीय रेखाओं को मशीनों में कुचल देंगी। पर कमजोर सरकारें जब ये नहीं कर पातीं तब वो ये अंतर-जातीय झुनझुने को बजाती हैं, ये जानते हुए कि स्टेट ही जाति की पोशक है और राजनीति इसलिए जाति की वाहक है। भारत में राज्य, राजनीति को जातिवाहक बनाता है, और समाज को जातियों में बने रहने को मजबूर करता है, ऐसे में समाज की जगह राज्य को जाति भूलनी होगी। पर आप तो जाति जनगणना करवा रहे हैं।

Hindutva’s Internal tug of war to interpret Bengal’s monumental success. One section is interpreting it as a victory of caste-less Hindutva anxious on account of infiltration, appeasement and religious persecution. This section ignores the micro-engineering of identities like Matuas, Rajbanshis, Bagdis, other tribal groups (This identities were bypassed by class-centric politics of CPM and ignored hesitatingly by ideology-less politics of TMC). However, this is also true that BJP took the lessons from 2021 elections and toned down its narrative around sub-identities of Hindus to consolidate the supra-identity against Muslim infiltration, appeasement and misgovernance. Then, there is another section led by people like Dilip Mandal who want to paint the victory in terms of SC/ST consolidation by BJP. He too wants to simplify the message of Bengal win to push forward his agenda of subaltern politics. Also, his messaging is double edged. At one hand he is teasing and warding off the savarnas to not hegemonise this victory in the name of Hindutva for their own benefits. At the other end, he is messaging to Dalits of UP that BJP is serious about their votes. However, in doing so they are doing casteisation of Hindutva at the cost of Hindu society. Finally there are bhopu supporters who have no idea whats happening, they are just salivating on electoral victory with reverence for party and leader. This brings us to the tension within the Hindutva camp which may be ignored in the moment of euphoria of monumetal success, but remember that “Victory has a unique character of hiding weaknesses” and these weaknesses start making its presence felt when country requires real strength.
