A Roman statue of Hercules, perhaps from a shrine, that was found locally and is on display in the Aquincum Museum next to ruins of that ancient Roman city now in Budapest, Hungary.

The ancient Egyptian magical boat ride
If you ever wondered how ancient kings planned to travel through eternity you need to see this incredible treasure.
This beautifully crafted wooden ship is the funerary model boat of Pharaoh Amenhotep II.
Discovered in 1898 by Victor Loret, hidden deep inside his tomb in the legendary Valley of the Kings, this masterpiece was designed for a very specific magical reason.
Ancient Egyptians deeply believed that these model boats perfectly symbolized the king joining the powerful solar deity on his epic eternal journey through the afterlife

An undeniably emotional experience seeing the other half of the ‘peacock room’ in Oplontis being excavated and meeting their counterparts: two peahens that grace the facing wall. Spectacular.
Visits to the excavation area open to the public on Thursdays: pompeiisites.org/comunicati/il-…

#TombTuesday - KV17 in the Valley of the Kings (Egypt) is the tomb of Pharaoh Seti I of the Nineteenth Dynasty. It is widely regarded as the most magnificent and artistically refined tomb in the Valley of the Kings. KV17 is exceptionally long and complex, stretching over 130 meters. It descends through a sequence of corridors, stairways, pillared halls, and chambers, all aligned along a single axis, a layout that influenced later New Kingdom tombs.
Unlike many tombs, it was fully decorated, suggesting Seti I died before work had to be rushed or abandoned. KV17 contains some of the most complete versions of major funerary texts, including the Book of Gates, the Amduat and the Book of the Heavenly Cow.
