Singapore will cane you for running scams
Since December 30, anyone convicted of running scams in Singapore faces mandatory caning of six to 24 strokes. Syndicate members, recruiters, and money mules who lend out bank accounts or SIM cards all fall under the law. Singapore lost $2.8 billion to roughly 190,000 scam cases between 2020 and mid-2025, and fraud made up 60% of all crime in the country. Parliament decided fines and prison weren't cutting it.
The law applies to anyone convicted in Singapore regardless of nationality. Same mandatory minimum for syndicate bosses and facilitators. No exceptions.
