अधिकांश राज्यों में आमतौर पर कहानी पहले से तय-सी लगती है। चुनौती देने वाला पक्ष बदलाव की नाव पर सवार होता है, उसे साफ़ तौर पर फ़ेवरिट माना जाना चाहिए।उसे आगे दिखाई देना चाहिए। उसकी जीत मुझे हैरान नहीं करेगी। लेकिन अगर सत्तारूढ़ दल इन परिस्थितियों के बावजूद अपनी पकड़ बनाए रखे, विरोधी धाराओं को साध ले और फिर से सत्ता में लौट आए तो यह सिर्फ़ जीत नहीं होगी। यह लोकतंत्र के रंगमंच पर एक बड़ा उलटफेर, लगभग एक राजनीतिक चमत्कार जैसा होगा। मेरी समझ कम से कम यही कहती है। In most states, the script is usually predictable. The challenger walks in as the clear favourite, riding the winds of change. I will not be surprised by their victory. But if the incumbents manage to hold their ground, defy the currents and return to power, it won’t just be a victory. It will feel like a political upset of rare proportions, almost a minor miracle in the theatre of democracy. That, at least, is how I read the moment.

Indian higher education is certainly shifting from a seller’s market to a buyer’s market. With better access to information, students and parents are now informed, cautious and outcome-focused. They are concerned about employability, skills, and return on their high investment. Unfortunately this shift is still not pushing HEIs to compete on quality and results and they are still basking on their “reputation”. Hopefully students and parents will force private and govt HEIs to move toward more accountability. It is also exposing gaps, as many institutions are now struggling to keep pace with these rising expectations.

बैशाख की देहरी पर धूप ने अंगड़ाई ली है उसी तपते क्षण में किसी रानी की तरह बैंगनी जारूल खिल उठा है। कहते हैं- “रानी का फूल” है यह, सिर ऊँचा, रंग गहरा, मानो धूप को चुनौती देता हो, यह कि सौंदर्य ताप में भी जन्म लेता है। सुबह की हवा में इसके पराग घुल गए हैं चुपके से, जैसे किसी ने खुशबू को अदृश्य कर घोल दिया है धीमी बतास में। कैंपस में टहलते हुए आती है याद गुलमोहर की अमलतास की जारूल की बैंगनी आभा कमी कर देती है पूरी। गर्मी, अक्सर कठोर लगती है, है कितनी कोमल जारूल के फूलों में वह सज गई है, जैसे रानी ने धूप का मुकुट पहन लिया हो। बैशाख की उठती गर्मी में यह बैंगनी जारूल केवल फूल नहीं, एक उम्मीद है कि ऋतु चाहे जितनी तपे, सौंदर्य अपना रास्ता खुद बना लेता है।
