P1-4 enjoyed learning about grid references this week in Maths. We practised locating places/things on a map using 2 figure grid references. We created our own grid maps too. ♥️ this grid map made from K-Nex. Objects placed in the grid & grid squares labelled.

Fantastic visit from Para Nordic Skier Callum Deboys this afternoon who explained his story and sport with ADLC pupils. We enjoyed exercising with him showing our strength and skill.

Experimenting with creating digital pictograms and bar graphs yesterday as part of our Information Handling Maths topic. Surveys included Favourite Pokemon, Ice Cream Flavours, Footballers, Football Teams, Fruit and Colours.

Kicking off Health Week with a trip to Muiravonside Country Park today. Great for the mind to be surrounded by nature & what we can learn from it. We walked around the farm animals, went pond dipping & did a nature scavenger hunt. Brilliant fun!

Fabulous Summer trip to the 5 Sisters Zoo yesterday. Our favourite animals were the red pandas, cheetahs, lions, Highland cows, spider monkeys, brown bears & caiman. We also helped to prepare a fruit & veg lunch for the European brown bears at our workshop.

P1 - 4 had lots of fun this morning conducting their own surveys to collect information. They sorted, displayed and interpreted information from their created pictograms, block and bar graphs. Amazing work - 5 🌟 effort!
Throughout our Information Handling Maths topic, we have been learning about Venn and Carroll diagrams. Here are some we helped create. We used given and our own criteria to sort and display information.

Weight Playroom Experience - exploring a range of activities using a bucket/pan balance, bathroom scales, g and kg weights, sand weights and different objects to weigh & compare. Challenge: design a carrier bag that will hold 20 Compare Bears, 40 Kapla blocks or 3 large pebbles.
Fabulous French work this morning - using our vocabulary knowledge of body parts, we played Build a Person with a partner. 5 Dojos to the winners and extra Dojos for practising saying the numbers rolled and the body part they were drawing.

Playroom Measuring Experience - exploring length, width & height. We moved around measuring activities before taking on a challenge of creating an enclosure for a zoo animal with a choice of given measurements.
