Palestine exposes the lie of international law. Venezuela exposes the lie of self-determination under empire. When nations, movements, or peoples step outside the boundaries set by imperial power, they are sanctioned, destabilized, or invaded.

Spray paint a plane and they'll detain you without trial and call you a terrorist. Kidnap the foreign head of state - and Keir Starmer will make it clear we've played no part in it but will wait for the scheduled press conference in a few hours before potentially condemning it.

Actually yes, in general it's ridiculous to see the world treat American domestic politics as universal concerns. We actually end up importing their racial frameworks, their culture wars and their political divisions as if they map onto our own societies - when they don't. French banlieues aren't American ghettos for instance, and if we frame them as such we adopt analyses and solutions designed for a different context. It's a form of toxic cultural colonialism.

I wear flags on nights out, I eat flags, I wash with flags, I have flag children, I say a prayer to my flag each evening, I smoke and drink flags, I drive a flag to work, I go on holiday to flags every year, I bake flags every Sunday and put up flags instead of a Christmas tree.

Asked if she's got a flag on display in her home, the Home Secretary says she has Union Jack bunting, St Georges flags, St Georges bunting, and Union Jack flags and tablecloths.

What in the reputation rehabilitation is going on over here? Why does a genocidaire get a New York Times byline? They can work their feelings out in the dock at the Hague. Prosecute them.

"I fought in Gaza for a year, first as a tank platoon commander and then as the deputy to my company commander" "Gaza became a lawless zone, with little effective oversight of the military and almost no personal accountability for soldiers" "this war has crossed every boundary"

when Virginia Woolf said, “Autumn is my season, dear; it is, after all, the season of the soul” and when F. Scott Fitzgerald said, “Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall” and when Anne Shirley said, “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”

ITV pulling zero punches in this incredible footage - "This landscape of destruction looks otherworldy, but it's not, it's this world - What is happening may come to define one of its darkest eras, one that casts a stain on humanity, which will endure for generations" #Gaza
