Excited to share our latest research published in @Nature! We explored how working memory representations evolve and stabilize with practice, using simultaneous volumetric imaging of more than 73,000 neurons. Big thanks to my amazing team and collaborators! Special appreciation to @pgolshani and Alipasha Vaziri for their invaluable contributions. Let’s dive into the highlights! #Neuroscience #Research #Memory #Science #NeuralDynamics 🌟🔬🧠

In these difficult times (all grants frozen) it is good to recognize the good that science can do. Very proud of our new paper on open-source 2P miniscopes! They can image dendrites in cortex and dentate granule neurons through an intact CA1. nature.com/articles/s4146…

7/ 🎯 Our findings highlight that delay-related activities crucial for working memory initially fluctuate but stabilize with practice. This could have implications for understanding learning and memory disorders. #ResearchImpact

6/ 📈 Interestingly, while single-plane layer imaging showed some insights, it was the simultaneous volumetric imaging of up to 73,307 M2 neurons that revealed the full picture of this stabilization process. #CuttingEdgeTech

5/ 🧩 As the mice became experts, their working-memory representations during the late-delay epoch drifted initially but eventually stabilized. This drift-stabilize process is crucial for solidifying memory. #MemoryFormation

3/ ⏱️ Using optogenetic inhibition, we discovered that interfering with secondary motor neurons during the late-delay and choice periods drastically impairs task performance. #NeuralDynamics

4/ 🔬 Mesoscopic calcium imaging of the M2, RSA, and M1 cortices showed that late-delay-epoch-selective neurons emerged in the M2 as the mice learned the task. But why is this important? #BrainImaging

2/ 🐭 We trained head-fixed mice to perform an olfactory delayed-association task. The mice had to identify and remember two sequential odors to make a decision. #Neuroscience

Delighted to announce our latest paper. We discovered single-cell correlate of theta-gamma PAC. Hippocampal PAC cells participate in control of WM through information-enhancing noise correlations and long-range frontal interactions. @Nature @CedarsSinai nature.com/articles/s4158…

Excited to share my PhD work in @pgolshani 's lab designing and building low-cost miniature 2P microscopes with everyone! They cost < $10k USD (even at low production runs), are fitted with 2 on-board SiPM detectors, and are completely open-source! 1/5 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Excited to share our preprint, the work I’ve done in Golshani lab @pgolshani. Using UCLA Miniscope, I explored NAc neural representation of social interaction and identified representational deficit in Cntnap2 KO mice. More exciting results are coming! Stay tuned.

With much gratitude and excitement, I here announce that I will start my own lab @UVA Dept. of Neurosci. @uvaneuro this September! It takes a village to land a TT faculty job and thank y'all for helping me achieve this dream of mine. Look out for the Lu lab & more OPC/glia news!
