The buddhism in kanchi itself is said to be influenced by the andhra Buddhism.
So the madhyamaka mahayana is more rooted in this land.

Telugus/Deccan south built half the spine of Buddhist philosophy. Nāgārjuna in Andhra, father of Madhyamaka. By tradition the line that carried it forward was southern too: Buddhapālita, Candrakīrti, Bhāviveka who founded Svātantrika, and Dharmakīrti, the summit of pramāṇa. Centuries later the humanist secular Theosophist-inspired Buddhists led by Annie Besant tried to crown a Telugu boy from Madanapalle as the next Maitreya. His Telugu intellect saw straight through them. In 1929 Jiddu Krishnamurti dissolved their entire Order of the Star with one line: truth is a pathless land. Telugus used to be so smart.

Dude, Im getting second hand embarassment talking to you. Sivavijja predates buddhism by centuries, so does sveteswara upanisad which predates mahayana by atleast 4 centuries. you are repeatedly bringing up the harappan seal thingy thinking that you are proving something while just dodging everything. Think of this, panini acknowledges his ashtadhyayi by praying to shiva. and mahayana buddhism came centuries after panini do you get it now? (you can come up with kindergarden level equation jokes later,)

Dharma Sastha was a later Sanskritised title given to Ayyappa by Brahmins ( Nambudiris ). It was part of a process of Brahmanisation of a native tribal deity. You are example for those ppl with a one page history book who try to proofread the whole library
