This evening at 5:10 p.m., I will celebrate Mass at Holy Rosary Cathedral to give thanks to God for the election of our new Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV.

We need a community of solidarity to support and help us as we walk through this valley of darkness (cf. Ps 23:4). When we join together as one family in fostering fraternity and justice, our initiatives are strengthened and more effective. 3/3

On this sombre Day of Remembrance and Mourning, declared by the Province of British Columbia, we recognize that our lives are bound together and that we cannot face tragedy isolated from one another. 2/3

The unspeakable horror of the tragedy after the Lapu Lapu Day Festival leaves us grieving and deeply disturbed. 1/3

May our merciful Lord bring healing to all who are suffering, and may our Blessed Mother comfort every broken heart. 5/5

In these days of sorrow following the tragedy at the Lapu-Lapu Day Festival in Vancouver, I continue to hold you all, especially our Filipino community, in my prayers. 1/5

Inspired by his declaration of an Extraordinary Missionary Month in October 2019, we launched Proclaim, a movement that awakens disciples to proclaim Jesus. The Pope’s challenge to embrace missionary discipleship continues to guide our evangelization efforts today. 5/6

Leading with humility, he called us to a renewed closeness to Jesus and a missionary spirit that reaches to the peripheries. His vision of synodality—a Church that listens, discerns and walks together—profoundly shapes our local Church today. 3/6

It is with great sorrow that I join the faithful of the @archvancouver, and Catholics around the world, in mourning the passing of our Holy Father, Pope Francis. Pope Francis was a tireless shepherd of the Church, a beacon of hope, and a champion of the Gospel. 1/6

May the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Sorrows, accompany you this Holy Week and lead you to an ever more profound understanding of the greatness of what the Lord has done for us by his Cross and Resurrection, which have set us free.

Situate yourself within the narrative and let yourself be moved by what Jesus has done for you by his suffering and death on the Cross. At the same time, ask him to open your heart to recognize and relieve his ongoing suffering in those around you.
