there's a way of criticising politely in front of a fan yes, but hating on that thing is 99% of the time not a direct attack on YOU as a person; you can tell when someone is hating on things you like deliberately or not

alot of u view ur fav characters as extensions of urself, so when people hate on them, you think they’re attacking you. there is nothing wrong with relating to characters, but you have to realise people are going to dislike them, and that its okay.
