@bigdog1080 why? she's right. it's the same reason why using jargon in science is awful. it's useful shorthand if your audience already knows it but totally confusing otherwise. there are ways to communicate that can do both if you just put in a little more effort

@nath_ri_ @writerofscratch they use mentats (human computers) to actually fly the thing, and you don't necessarily need a computer to build a spaceship. I'm not sure the propulsion method but just imagine a real life rocket where instead of computers it's just a guy doing all the calculations.

Thematically, narratively, aesthetically and tone wise they are very different stories.
