I like the idea of historical figures knowing about time because they get visited so often. Humanity is about to get wiped out by aliens so we go back in time to get Napoleon for his strategic thinking and he's like "sure as long as I can go to the san dimas waterpark again".

Are paper rejections really that bad? My papers get read by ~3 people on average. Each rejection means a resubmission, which means 3 more readers. After 4 rejections, that's double-digit readership.

So apparently Anthropic left 3,000 internal docs in a public data lake and security researchers found them. The docs reportedly describe a new model called claude mythos that sits above opus in a new tier called capybara. Their own draft allegedly says it's "far ahead of any other AI model in cyber capabilities". If true, the company building the most security-sensitive AI on earth got popped by a config flag.

@steinly0 And this week I found myself a new one: deletion without email notice. A bit surprising so that can be an actual bug or a saturation of email servers. In any case for us the actual process is a) get the work accepted for publication b) try to get in in arxiv before page charges

@steinly0 stein, this is not really true for old timers, we have tainted accounts that generate immediate freeze and then manual deletion even for endorsed categories where we can submit. This generates some stress with SCOAP3 rules.

True, these people exist But the real revelation (at least to me) is the huge number of people seriously and deeply interested in physics. We‘re making a mistake by making University physics only really accessible to young students
Niko@NikoSarcevic

@PeterMorganQF @martinmbauer Look, my stance is this: I’m all for being polite. However, there’s only so much abuse one can take. These people do not want a genuine discussion about problems in physics. They come in with an agenda. 1/

Nice that amateurs keep looking at Koide formula. If someone can endorse Nem and Eguchi to upload to arxiv, either physics or hep, please contact them. zenodo.org/records/184076… The (d s b) tuple looks only midly broken, some it has sense to look for clues in CKM.

gpt-5 pushes quantum theory forward a theoretical physicist just published a paper in Physics Letters B, where the main idea came from gpt-5 gpt-5 suggested a new way to test "nonlinear" quantum mechanics, and a generate-verify loop showed most of those changes don't work once you include relativity but... but it's just a stochastic parrot

One more Moriond new, this time from ATLAS. Looking at the auxilliary figures, there is a nice, even though not very significant, indication for the 152 GeV Higgs candidate. But it is encouarging that it goes in the right direction. Its only in the low BDT categories, as expected
