Ex Tenebris has been reinforcing how vital playtesting is. I expected to have challenges with the emergent mystery system - yet it's gone pretty smoothly. I thought the relationships/emotions bit would come easily, and it didn't. You cannot tell what will work until you test it.

I agree with the spirit of this, but also: playtest and stream with people you trust and do it the way you normally do. Playtesting should be fun! Streaming should be fun! It should include those deep emotional connections. If not, find a better group.

@armadajosh i apologize if i sound a little didactic btw but its maybe worth revisiting my original tweet and realizing that you and i are talking about completely different situations

@jdragsky They have bigger problems than I can solve! I don't think "play a normal game" is gonna fix that. (There's a whole literature about how to roleplay good, which is mostly aimed at a different kind of dysfunction, but might also help those people, I guess?)

@armadajosh "don't treat AP/playtests differently from normal play" what about people who so rarely engage in "normal" play that theyve forgotten what its like? people whose sense of "normal" has been warped around a profit incentive and/or a parasocial audience?
