I’m at Europa (from Gràcia) v Ibiza. Good story this. Europa’s biggest game in 60 years. Win and in play offs for 2nd division. They were 5th tier when I first watched them. Promoted again for this season. Had to change grounds in Jan as must play on grass. 1/2

@SegundaSpanish @elpozo1rfef 2/2 flip side, when you go away you & end up at a training ground with only a few hundred home fans. Real Madrid Castilla only gave CDT 300 tickets for the match back in Sep when the stadium had 2,000 empty seats. 100s were outside but they would not let them buy on day. Crazy!

As the dust settles on yesterday’s football, let’s take a minute to look at the configuration of the playoffs in @elpozo1rfef to see who could join us Yes, that FOUR B teams you see, and what’s more there is the potential for two all B team finals with two promoted to Segunda

@SegundaSpanish @elpozo1rfef 1/2 mixed thoughts. It does mean that u23s team players get to play week in week out against seasoned pros and let`s face it, it has not done the Spain national team much harm in past 20 years!

With all the focus on LaLiga and the relegation battle this has gone under the radar. Pontevedra, Real Madrid Castilla and Barakaldo all finished on 58 points with all three fighting for the last play-off spot. The three teams then go into a mini league similar to LaLiga but Castilla and Pontevedra ended up level. The next step if it was the same as LaLiga would be the GD in those 6 games which would mean Pontevedra go into the play-offs. The RFEF rules though are that the results of the bottom team in the mini league so Barakaldo are excluded and it goes on the direct head to head between Pontevedra and Castilla which means Castilla take the spot. What makes it worse for Pontevedra is they believed they were in the play-offs and the league itself posted that they'd made it only to delete the post and put out a graphic without communicating with the club to say that Castilla was in the play-offs. A messy situation and one that should have been a lot clearer, unfortunately I don't see Pontevedra overturning this.

@laligaandbeyond But I am reading that in the rules that at no point does it say about "excluding a team" from the mini league at any point. In this case it would be Pontevedra going through. But lets see, maybe some small print somewhere!

Something funny is happening in the Spanish 3rd division. Crazy part is that, this team I quoted are celebrating play off spot, meanwhile they might not get play offs because of some loopholes in the rules. Now, in the Primera División RFEF, there are 2 groups with 20 teams each (40 teams in total). 4 teams gets promoted to Segunda Division. For each group, 1st gets automatic promotion, 2nd to 5th goes to play off. This is where the trouble is, Pontavedra, Real Madrid Castilla and Barakaldo occupy 5th, 6th and 7th position. They’re all on 58 points. Only one of them will finish 5th to get the last play off spot. The rules is that, if teams are tied, we will assume a mini league between them, more like Head to Head, but the problem now is that, the head to head will be between 3 teams. Assume these 3 teams played each other in a mini league: Real Madrid Castilla will be on 7 points based on their results against those two teams Pontevedra will be on 7 points Barakaldo will be on 4 points. This means nothing separates both Real Madrid Castilla and Pontevedra. The next thing is to apply goal difference right? The dilemma now is that, if they apply another head to head between Real Madrid Castilla and Pontevedra, Castilla will qualify because they won 1 and drew 1 against them…but if they don’t apply H2H the second time, Pontevedra qualifies based on goal difference. The question now is, since they’ve applied the H2H amongst the 3 teams, the next thing should be goal difference right or should they apply H2H again? I’m sure when they were making these rules, maybe they didn’t consider this scenario. A Competition judge will sit on the matter and make a decision. It’s so crazy, I’ve attached 4 result apps and they’re all confused also😂😂😂

@KillianB22 Away support is “tolerated” in Spain(if that) but not encouraged. Add the long distances, late kick offs, in many cases a one night stay, and late notice of matchday confirmation and it works out very expensive. Overall Spain is a poor country, wages lowest in Western Europe

@1884DT Not knowing days & times of matches until only 10 days before/late kick offs/poor transport links + the distances involved (Spain is three times the size of England)/treatment as an away fan(away support tolerated, if that, not encouraged)/located at highest, worst part stadium

Find it so peculiar how Spanish teams will bring 3k fans to England like it's nothing but they'll take nothing to like Osasuna.
