@exquizitely The game intro is one of my favorites, along with Dune 2, Prince of Persia 2, and Flashback. The game itself is so immersive, we used to compare notes and strategies, as well as share achievements and tactics.

UFO: Enemy Unknown (original title), also known as X-COM: UFO Defense in North America (Mythos/MicroProse, 1994) was a fantastic game. It had a really steep learning curve, at least that is my memory when I first played it, but it got you hooked so easily. The vibe of this game is just incredible, starting with the kickass intro, the super colourful pixel graphics, the eerie music, the story, the whole setting just sucked you in. Fully immersive, that's probably the best way to describe it. It just had that certain extra. Despite its troubled development, including having been almost cancelled twice, the game received very strong reviews and was commercially successful, selling more than half a million units (a large number at the time) for PC/DOS, not counting the later ports. Half of the game's net sales were in the United States, another rarity for a European title at the time.

@FrankAtHPP Somehow it reminds of Altered Beast. I miss game manuals, boxes, and all the artwork and effort that game companies do to complete the whole package!
