We call them "spiritual attacks," but the truth is much more grounded: We are bulldozing their homes to build ours. In the rush to turn every mangrove in Lekki and every forest in Epe into "Luxury Estates," we’ve forgotten one thing: these lands were already occupied. Snakes don't have relocation plans. When you level a forest, they don’t just vanish—they seek cover. Your cool, shaded ceiling or damp backyard looks exactly like the hollow logs and burrows we destroyed. They aren't "entering" your house; they are trying to survive in the only territory they’ve ever known. This isn't a snake problem; it’s a deforestation problem. By failing to protect wildlife corridors and green belts, we’ve forced nature into a corner. Seeing a snake in your living room is a direct result of poor urban planning and a lack of conservation. Let’s stop blaming the animal. It’s not "wickedness" or a "sign"—it’s a displaced creature with nowhere else to go. We are the ones who invaded first.
